5K achievement!

Good morning all!

Setting goals to keep me motivated.

So I've been working on my 5k's. On completing my c25k, like many others I wasn't anywhere near 5k, nearer 3k ๐Ÿ˜‚ Since July I've worked on running for longer until I got to actually doing the full 5k jogging. My 1st attempt was about 50 minutes. I then started trying to up my speed a little and today I did it in 44.33, I know this is still slow compared to many but I really don't care ๐Ÿ˜‰

2 of my goals are accomplished so my next goal is to aim for 60 minutes jogging time.

Happy running guys ๐Ÿ™‚

Well done on your 44:33 5k And don't compare to others , it's YOUR run and well done ๐Ÿ‘

If you are working up to 60 minutes why not try Ju Ju's Magic plan ?

It's basically two stand alone plans , one to get you to 60 minutes, the other to get you to 10k.

Happy running !

Thank you, I've been looking at ju ju's 60 minute plan for a couple of weeks now. Guess it's time to take the next step!

Any pb is something to be proud of and is a sign of progress.

Don't forget to keep up the nice easy conversational pace runs which will continue to build your aerobic base, which running hard will not do.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thank you, I'm not sure I'll ever run hard! Although I wouldn't say it's easy but it's manageable and although I can't say full sentences due to concentrating on my breathing (asthma) I am never totally out of breath or panting at any point in my run. This is a vast improvement on my ability to control my breathing as prior to c25k a flight of stairs would leave me breathless. I can however answer questions with 4 or 5 word answers now, which I couldn't do before ๐Ÿ™‚

That is great, but you may find greater long-term benefits by running even slower. Have you read this FAQ Post about getting faster healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I have, but maybe I'll go over it again, thanks.

Just put your 5k pb into the training pace calculator linked to in that post and you will see how slow your easy pace is recommended to be..........I think you will be surprised.

Hi, that is quite surprising! I usually do 2 x 30 slow at 9.14 a week, But I think the fastest I can run is only 8.47 and I can only keep this up for 10 minutes, then drop to 8.53 I think, by the end I'm usually at my slowest of 9.14 to get to 5k. Maybe I'll work on that before I venture to 60 minutes!

The calculator suggests that you should do 80% of your running at a pace no faster than 10:35/k based on your latest pb.

Slow down to speed up. 9:14/k is too fast for your current fitness level.

Thatโ€™s brilliant nto! If you can run for between 44 and 50 minutes, then 60 mins is just round the corner. Well done ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š.

Hi, your times/ paces/ goals are so similar to mine! Perhaps I will try running even slower too. Maybe it can be a challenge to see how slow we can run 5k!

Have had to have a couple of weeks off as I really upset my back. Hoping to retry 20 mins today to getgoing again. The motivation is hard after a break.

Love this! Go at your own pace and set your own goals! Yep Iโ€™m still running quite slow and just about making 3k post C25k at the moment. Iโ€™m just concentrating on building a habit of running then Iโ€™ll increase speed and distance as youโ€™ve done! Thanks for the inspo - keep going - sounds like youโ€™re on the right track!

Never_too_old , well done for getting to your 5K. I graduated in July and can do around 3K in 30 mins. I have promised my granddaughter that I will do a 5K run with her in April, so I need to start running for longer, thanks for your inspiration ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good luck Pink. I took it easy and it just happened! I have no desire to be fast just faster ๐Ÿคฃ but not too much faster! Keep us posted with your runs ๐Ÿ™‚
