A new PB to end the week

I've had a tough week at work and not sleeping well at all. I've run 3 times during the week, just 30 min runs each time to keep my mental health in check (and my fitness of course). But have promised myself that I will try to run 5km every Saturday - my (not)parkrun. And this morning was such a challenge, but I did it and managed to get my 5km under 37 mins. I am so pleased, that I am continuing to run 5km on a regular basis. My next challenge is to run for 60 minutes, but I know I'll need to slow right down, else I'll never manage it.

My 5K this week was just over 60 minutes so you can definitely do 60 minutes!

Hi, thank you for sharing this article. It's very interesting and certainly does change my attitude on running faster versus distance. I'll try to put some of this into practice 😀

Hey, great time! I try to do a 5k once a week but mine today was 47 minutes! I was hoping to get to 60 mins but only managed 52 when "also me" convinced me I couldn't do it! Shame on her 🙄 maybe next time. Hope this coming week is a better week for you and your running. 🙂

Hi, Thanks for your reply, and well done with your running! I have to remind myself that Rome wasn't built in a day, and that these take time and practice. I must also remember to enjoy my runs. Have a good week. 👍

I graduated a few weeks ago and still find just 30 mins challenging! Well done on your 5k. I keep thinking I will do 5k but get to 30 mins and stop🤪.

Hi itsamiracle, I did the same for several weeks. Then just kept going one week, I think my first 5km after graduation was around 41 mins. See if you can fun for 35 mins for a few weeks, then move on to 40 mins, etc. I need to slow down and learn to run for longer. I'm going to try out the consolidation plan. Good luck 👍

Thanks for the advise. I have run 5k 3 times but I found it so hard! I think what I need to do is as you say, slow down…but my competitive side won’t let me do that🤪. I just keep hoping it will get easier!
