Week 4 only one run left!

Ok - yesterday I pushed it - just a little to see what would happen. Breathing is finally feeling easy - like the same as the brisk walk so for the final 5 I added a little spice to my pace (don’t think the average person would’ve noticed but I did) I made a gain in my overall distance so feeling good and confident (which is hard for me about anything!) - like maybe, maybe if I finish this program I could one day join the illustrious ranks of people who get out of bed on a Sunday for a 5k park run? I definitely deserve new trainers if I make it there!

Well done.

When you complete the programme please don't get out of bed on a Sunday to do parkrun.................you will have missed it by 24 hours.

Don't wait until you finish to buy decent running shoes either........that may well be too late.

This guide to buying running shoes may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Thanks for the tip lol - wouldn’t want to miss it! I do have a pair of quality running shoes that I like - but maybe I need a little gait analysis to make sure they’re the right ones.

Many specialist running shops do free gait analysis with no obligation to buy, so you could get their advice as to whether your current shoes are appropriate for your running style.

Well done , and if you are running at a conversational pace then you have it just about right !I wouldn't concern yourself with the distance though, remember, this is purely a time based program .

Oh, one other teeny weeny point !

If you get up on a Sunday morning to do a 5k parkrun, you will be a day late 😁

Enjoy the rest of the program 👍

Haha! That wouldn’t be good! Thanks for the tip! I’ll remember that for when the time comes!

You’ll definitely will make it there!!! A matter of “when” not “if”! I went on one park run ages ago before ever attempting this programme so I was so slow and holding up the rear and running was probably all over the place 🤣 but I loved it. it’s definitely an amazing feeling of accomplishment to attend and finish, just as you’ll get with each level of this programme, lots of helpful volunteers to line the path, so definitely a great motivator on the horizon that I’ve been using too!

P.s: I love the little sprint at the end they encourage you to do with these runs they really do make you finish on a high!!! Best of luck 🍀🥳☀️

Thanks for the encouragement! I don’t want volunteer medics involved so I’ll likely wait until I’ve finished the program and can go the distance without people starting to pack up for the day. But I’ll try to make it there one day!
