Hi newbie here have just done my second run (can’t really call it running) with a friend who is helping me as I have some mobility issues with arthritis and pain. It’s hard to do but wanted to try anyway so now I’m determined to do it even if we repeat week 1 for a few more weeks until I’m comfortable enough to carry on. Is anyone around who can advise me on doing these runs with pain in my back as it’s there before I start. I struggle to walk to the car normally so this run is absolutely killing me yet strangely I’ve actually enjoyed it.

Welcome to the forum and the program, It's great that you want to do this !

As you have mentioned that you suffer with pain , have you consulted your GP to see if running would be ok ?

We are not medically trained so your GP would be the best person to advise .

We would not normally recommend running with pain and would suggest that before starting this program that you are able to walk briskly for 30 minutes.

Please bear this in mind as the last thing we would want is for your pain to worsen due to running .

Please seek professional advice before continuing.

Best wishes

Welcome. As above I’d recommend seeing your GP. I have a couple of articles that may help once that is done.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

Please talk this over with medical professionals who know your individual case before proceeding.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.
