So my weight has got a little out of control due to a number of reasons but I am getting married next Christmas and have decided to start from the beginning. I have been hibernating for the whole of lockdown and am a little nervous to get back out there. Any tips or encouragement would be much appreciated 🙂

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
Relax and enjoy it.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Hello Katprid. Deciding to take part in this is your first step. I am sure a lot of us can relate to weight gain during Lockdown. I know I can. But if you start and trust the process you’ll be great. Wishing you luck and let us know how you are doing whenever you want. I am about to start week 6 and never thought I’d get this far or even (shock horror) enjoy it! 😬
Well done on your decision to start the program ! Seems you have read the guide so your all set !
Keep well hydrated , keep the runs slow and most of all , enjoy the program 😁
Welcome. Good to see you out of hibernation… running is a great partner to good nutrition for weight loss, and it will tone you up. You’ll look fab for that wedding day.
You can do this… come check in with us lots, the support here really helped me.
Enjoy your journey.
Hello lovely! You've come to the right place, keep posting and let us know how you're doing, we'll be happy to help and cheer you on.
Well done for starting. I never thought I would do it but I jog round the park saying hello to everyone I meet and now on my w9 1st run on Friday. It's a lovely helpful community so keep us posted and happy running x
Well done for starting the programme - that's the hardest hurdle climbed over already 😀
I am still 3 stone overweight (but I was 4 stone overweight), 62 years old, and up until June 2021 had never even run for a bus! I've now graduated and regularly run 30 minutes 3/4 times a week - I'm not fast (nowhere near 5k still, but that's not a problem!), it isn't pretty, but I do it and - dare I say it - I am finally starting to actually like it a bit too 👍
I am following a healthy eating plan, but the running has definitely helped with toning - especially my legs, arms, and core. I have recently also added in the NHS Strength and Flex programme on my non-running days, which will help too.
However, by far the most important part of this journey is I now feel fitter than I have for years, my hypertension is slowly resolving, my resting heart rate has dropped by a massive 9 bpm and is now 63bpm - impressive for an old, fat, woman - and my blood glucose is dropping every month. I am now only 0.2mmol/l off being classed as diabetic and that's without medication!
This programme will benefit you in so many ways and I am sure you will waltz down that aisle looking and feeling wonderful in every way👰💒👰 Keep on trucking and keep us posted - there are so many lovely folks on here without whom I doubt I would even have graduated, let alone go on to become a regular runner - it's a fabulous forum🥰🏃♀️😃
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. If you have taken the step to download the app you are almost there. Know just pick a day very soon and just do it. Listen and follow the ad I’ve tips and really celebrate your first run because you can do it
