A new care system for OH after a scary hospital visit has settled down, and I am using the time to get back on the C2-5K trail at last. W3R2 this morning, so I am far enough along to think it may work, fingers crossed. So good to be moving again at my tortoise pace. Yes, OldFloss, slow and steady it is!
A late summer start is so different from my deep winter experience nearly 3 years ago. Much less mud 👏🏼 but on the other hand, a hard, rutted track right where Laura sent me off for my 3 minutes. 😄 And I am conscious of the extra 3 years on the legs - Injury Prevention is high on my list. Yes indeed I have reread that FAQ post!
Onwards. Hurray. 😊🐢🎉

So happy to read this and so glad that you are out there running again. I have just had COVID and have not been able to run so will be joining you back on the C25K trail again. Good luck on your journey and happy running 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
COVID 😫. Hope it wasn’t too bad. Take it easy as you recover. We might see each other pottering along. 😊👍 I’ll be the slow one with the green shell! 🤣🤣
It wasn't too bad as I was double vaxed but I have lost my sense of smell and just feel totally exhausted all the time!! Will have to start really slowly and see how I go. And no one is slower than me, I can get overtaken by walkers 😂😂
Someday we’ll have a “Who runs slowest” competition. 🤣 I’ll wait until you feel better / I might lose right now, but just you wait! Seriously, take it easy and things should gradually improve. Any virus is frustrating in its aftermath. Glad to say I have no experience of this one, but I’m sure the general advice still holds. Take care.
I'm back redoing it all after an ankle iniury and 8 months off. Currently at week 7 run 1 but taking it slower this time and more rest days inbetween runs. We did it before, we can do it again. 👍🏽😀
So glad to hear that you are getting some “you” time again Granspeed. It sounds like you are making good progress on c25k. Are you back on the New Forest trails? We are currently at Dartmoor and walked round a great running area today but not sure whether we will be able to fit a run in, as well as hiking.
I love Dartmoor! I will endeavour to hide my jealousy, however, in favour of rejoicing that you & UTS are getting to enjoy it. And you picked an excellent weather week. 👏🏼 so far I am jogging round the field trails behind home - my total “free” time is only an hour. So no travel time. However, I will be ready when I see the chance to get out among the trees. 🌳🌳🐢🎄🌲. Tortoise gets lost in the trees? 🤣
That 1 hour will make all the difference to you though. The weather is superb. Here is a little postcard from Parke NT for you. Today we head uphill to Haytor Rocks and many tors on a circular route. I hope it’s not going to be the 10 tor challenge 😱
Glad to hear you’re able to run a bit once more Granspeed! If there’s a competition for the slowest runner, may I join in - I’m pretty confident I could win hands down!
I sometimes surprise myself and sometimes Willow does a quick sprint but in our mid sixties a gentle plod along is good, I like a long gentle run every so often, and I’ve just discovered podcasts, fascinating and makes a change from music
Yes, I like podcasts too, especially for longer runs where you can just settle into a rhythm and listen. The km go chugging by without much notice. By winter, without all the sights and smells of the fields to distract me, il should be back on longer runs and podcasts.
I will if the mum & son I saw picking this morning left me some! 😄 Actually I think they’re just ripening so pickings should be ok on my walk days. Must remember to take a box… 🤔😊
Always pleasing to know that as we get older we don't necessarily have to give up on exercise and being active, unless health issues arise of course. So good luck to you Granspeed as you progress through C25k, your legs will strengthen over time and you'll be collecting another badge - you also deserve one for caring for your OH, not always easy although rewarding in its own way.Best wishes ☺️
