I graduated C25K at the end of June but couldn't run anywhere near 5K. Well today I finally competed 5K for the first time in my life. It was very warm and I ran very slow (it took me nearly 48 mins to complete) but I did it and I am thrilled. When I started on 1st April I could barely manage 60 seconds. I never thought I was capable of doing this. Thank you to all you amazing people for inspiring me!!!
Finally ran 5K: I graduated C25K at the end of... - Couch to 5K
Finally ran 5K
Congratulations on completing your first 5k, well done, through time you will achieve a sub 45 minutes 5k, but just take all the runs slowly and and most of all enjoy your runs. π π π
Amazing!!! Flippin well done ππ» Iβm still trying to run a full 5k...but itβs getting closer ππ»ββοΈπ€ππ»ββοΈ
Huge well done... many folk never forget their first 5K! Where is your running going to take you now I wonder?
Thank you. I am aiming to run the Bournemouth 10K in October for Alzheimers. Hopefully I can get to 10k by then in a reasonable time!!!
Well done, thatβs fantastic! Not surprised youβre thrilled, I would be too, I find it really difficult running in the heat- I only managed to do 20-30 mins when we had warmer weather.
Xx
Well done on your first 5k, a great achievement. As always, the mantra on here is slow and steady. You did it!
Well done, it just shows what you are capable of when you put the effort in π
Well done! Itβs such a good feeling to know you have done it! 5k is 5k regardless of time. Your time will gradually come down. Keep up the good work πππ
πππΌπ Well done. Always remember: a slow 5K is just the same length as a fast 5k, and just as good for you! π Welcome to the team of tortoises and snails. ππ
Ha - just looked at the map and realised you must live near me. Lovely route! See you sometime. π
Do you live in Lymington? Have you ever done the park run there? I am considering doing it but fear I am too slow at the moment!!! It is a 5 min walk from my house so would be perfect if I was brave enough π
Donβt worry about your speed Yogamaz - you can walk or run and the tail walker will always be behind you! Go, enjoy Parkrun!
Yes, Lymington indeed. I once trotted round the Parkrun course on my own but havenβt ventured anywhere yet with a big group. Might be up for it in the autumn! πππΌββοΈππΌββοΈ Our times are similar so maybe we should meet up for a practice.
Thatβs fabulous ! Well done you π₯βοΈβοΈβοΈ Enjoy those well deserved endorphins π
Thank you for all your comments and support. It really helps to keep me motivated!
Well done that is amazing πππππππ
A fantastic achievement. Physically and mentally to stick at it for 5K is great, I find the battle of not stopping is in my mind rather than my legs.
That's brilliant, well done you...it's a fab feeling isn't it! And addictive, am sure it was your 1st of many πππ
Awesome!! ππππ to you!
Congratulations and very well done! Check out your pace!
Well done! πππ
Wow!! Well done !! I remember how that felt when I did it last year. I bet you are grinning for the rest of the day πββοΈπ
Congratulations on your first 5k. I found once the I achieved my first one, it was addictive, the need to try again and to improve my time, I am still slow but gradually getting faster. I would not give up my running for anything, I hope you are similarly hooked and have many more good runs.
Well done and when you look back at how far you've come it's an amazing achievement. I did my first 5km at a parkrun after graduating and I burst into tears with the emotion. Try a parkrun I think you'll love it and everyone is so supportive.
Brilliant! The first 5k is really memorable. I only graduated fairly recently and thought I would never actually complete 5k but managed to on my second parkrun, with some of the grandkids who shot round with their parents far quicker than me. Still, I shall remember it - probably the first time I have ever run 5k without stopping in my 66 years!! Keep it up - it does become easier and you do get quicker (eventually!!ππ)
Well done you! I havenβt run for two months and am starting all over again from tomorrow. Dreading it as I hate stretching beforehand but have to so not to get shin splints.
Well done not just on 5k but running for over 40 minutes. I graduated earlier this year and occasionally manage a slow parkrun. I keep telling myself that I am exercising more than those who sprint round. I found focusing on the duration rather than speed or distance is what got me through c25k, so I am sticking with that philosophy. Just enjoy being able to run continuously for over 30 minutes.
Congratulations. It really is the best feeling ever isnβt it? Itβs a massive boat to self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing. Youβve done this yourself - maybe with the support of others - but youβve gone out every time, youβve felt the pain, youβve been thirsty and out of breath but ... youβve persevered each and every time and youβre success really is all down to you. Tell everyone, shout it out. You deserve kudos from everyone.
Congratulations!π π π
