I cannae believe this (as Sarah Millican might say) but I've just run 30 mins without stopping. I won't say it was easy and I was checking my Fitbit for timings by 29'00" but I KEPT GOING. At 9'40" per km it was slightly over 3km and that, my friends, is a miracle!!!
The one thing which does worry me slightly is that my heart rate is around 150 for the whole time - which at my age (nearly 70) is peak. I'm not breathless, I can speak while I'm running (and I do talk to myself just to check). I'm in cardio for the warm up and warm down walks, which is, I think, where it should be. I have a good RHR of around 62 and my Fitbit tells me my cardio fitness is "excellent". I have no chest pains or stitches either. This isn't new either: I've been in "peak" while running since I started the programme.
I have put in a call to my GP (no appts till next week) and I feel fine but is this something I should be worrying about? I know this isn't a medical forum, but I'm wondering if other older runners doing the C25K have had similar experience?

Well done for doing W9R1, you now know you can do it so they mental fight is over for the time being... Enjoy the next two runs.. I know absolutely nothing about hearts and beats , apart from mine does beat! But will be very interested in seeing the replies. You are nearly there !
That's brilliant: thank you so much. I had done some internet searching so had come across most of this information, but it's encouraging to have it in the context of doing a programme like C25K. I actively enjoy using the "tech", which I find really motivating, but I'm learning to take the data with a pinch of salt!
Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.
Having read the FAQ Post about heart rate, you may also find this FAQ post about Aging and Running helpful too. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
I can believe it. You've done so well and thriving. 💃It is a mirracle coming for nothing to this. This is what happens when you show up for yourself (and others in your case) 😘
I like that you've raised the heart rates question. Iv recently become concious of this as just noticed on my new watch it flashes. So il have a nosey through this info too.
