Wk 2 R 2 again

I decided to do it again and very nearly was distributed on the first run. “Had I see a small boy and a dog”, I replied politely but quickly “ sorry no I haven’t” as I jogged past. I think I need to try early morning to try and rule out being interrupted and to fit with work and granny duties. Any tips for a non morning person. How long are you up before you set off? I have been running mid afternoon about 2 1/2 hours after lunch. Thanks

Well done for getting out there again. I only run in the early morning now. I am usually up for a minimum of 30 minutes before running, I have a wash and brush my teeth. to wake myself up. You have to picture a woman brushing teeth whilst rotating their hips in a figure of eight and doing other slow movements to get the body working now . I have sips of water , maybe half a large glass in total , no food. .., More exercises before the run.. Good luck

I usually go out first thing Poppdog - which could vary between 6 and 9 am depending on what time I drag myself out of bed. And how much faffery is involved! I usually have a half glass of water and banana before I go out. I’d like to say 30 minutes between up and out. I’d like to very much but it’s normally at least an hour!

I've done all my running early morning (6am ish) Very few people about I was never a morning person before C25K! I get up, quick wash and dressed, streeeeeeetch and then I'm off. I eat and drink when I return. My one piece of advice would be set your running gear out the night before. It saves time in the morning and it's nice to know it's all there waiting for you.

I had to run in the morning, I would be no good after lunch! If I didn't run first thing I would run just before lunch.

As Chrimson51 says, lay out your gear before you go to bed. I would get up, wash my face, dress, drink a glass of warm water with a slice of lemon in it, do the pre-run dynamic stretches, then straight out of the door.

The best bit is getting home, post-run stretches, then a lovely breakfast :)

I'm an early morning runner too, although I was a night owl in my youth. I like to get up around 5.45 (no alarms - all natural, and if I don't wake up I don't run and don't worry about it) and I set off around 6.15am. Back in time for a quick set of stretches and a 20 minute soak in Epsom salts before work. Usually tucked up in bed by 10pm so the bod gets to recover.

Another early morning runner here. I get all my running stuff together the night before, up between half five and six and out by half six ish.

I do struggle with lunch time and evening runs which may be due to tiredness, humidity, pollution maybe.

I generally will have a glass of water and a cuppa before I set off and toast when I get back.

Morning runs do seem to help reduce interference. I run between 6 and 8am, normally around 7.

I try to get ready pretty much as soon as I get up, and typically end up leaving the flat about 15-20 minutes after I have woken. As a few people have said, I too get my stuff ready the night before, it makes me much more likely to go.

The two things I would watch for are:

1. If you are groggy in the mornings, give it long enough for that to clear, maybe do the warm up walk for longer. Both I and my fiance have found we are more likely to trip or have other accidents on our runs if we are too sleepy when we head out.

2. If you are used to afternoons after lunch, expect an adjustment period while you work out how best to run when you'll have at least one less meal, and probably less fluids, in you. I prefer running before I have had anything to eat or drink, others prefer going after breakfast or at least a cup of tea. Do what suits you, just expect to have to do a bit of trial and error while you find out what does suit you.

I initially started running in the evening after work Poppdog but found I was often really fatigued and very stiff after 9 hours at a desk and it was a struggle even to get motivated, muchless actually run 🙄😞

Not being a morning kind of person, I really didn't think I could manage at 7.30am session in the gym (the earliest I can book), but I gave it go when starting week 4 and it seems I am far better off running then than at 7pm. I get up at 6.45, wash & brush up, have a glass of water with lemon, and head off to town at 7.15 to hit the gym at 7.30am. A 5 minute yoga runners dynamic warm up, 40 minutes on the 'mill, 5 minutes yoga cool down, and I'm back at home with just enough time to change out of my sweaty Betty gear, have another quick rinse down, and be at my desk for 9am 😀

I never thought I'd say this, but I actually enjoy running early, sets me up for the day and gives me a real sense of achievement - oh, and makes sure I get my steps in too!🏃‍♀️👍🏃‍♀️

I would say each to thier own, but early mornings suit be me far better than evenings.

Thanks everyone I think I need to set of early, I was up at 6:30 out at 7 just walking my route this morning with the dog and boy it was like the M25, they all must be early birds round here. There are only certain routes I can go to avoid the hills and inclines, and I am surrounded by them, I don't drive so have to stay local, but I will sort it out. I have the running bug and the determination.

I've been aiming to get out at 6.15am. While I'm new at it I want to be able to do it without spectators. I've also found that time in the morning to be really peaceful - plus, what else would I be doing then, but wasting time lying in bed?
