I have ordered a pair....are they any good? I suffer with varicose veins and they make my legs feel very heavy so was hoping the socks may help with the running and my stiff joints.

Compression socks work by improving blood flow, so if that is the root of your problem, they may well work.
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide. This post gives more detail about this crucial aspect of running healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Also do you stretch after every run?
Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.
Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.
Okay will take that on board, I suffer with heavy legs as working from home has not helped with my legs sat for hours on end in one position. Getting in a routine of getting up and walking around the house. Did the stretches as you suggested last time and for the recommended time and I have to admit my legs are not hurting as much as the last run, so hopefully getting fitter. Sure I am my other half says I am doing great as he is nearly at the end of the plan.
If you are sitting down working, whether at home or in an office, it is recommended that you get up every 30 mins and move for one or two minutes.
Sitting for long periods is thought to slow the metabolism, which affects the body's ability to regulate blood sugar, blood pressure and break down body fat.
