So I got into running 9 years or so ago had basically a 7 year break renovating a house I'm no spring chicken now (51) and lockdown has gathered way more pounds than I care to admit on here !! So decided to start c25k did my first run Saturday one word ouchy πŸ˜‚ it's been a while to my surprise my other half who's never run a day in his life has decided to use the app as well all be it using the treadmill think I'm more happy about him doing it than me completing that first run !! Loving reading all your support it's keeping me inspired 😁

Well done for you . Arnica is brilliant. Have you tried the Arnica Foam pain relief? Excellent for pain and cooling. Happy running.

Superdrug . Not sure of the strength but works and feels great. I used it continuously whilst doing Hadrian's Wall... Warning it does give you a pleasant shock with the cold πŸ˜…

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

When I began my C25K in Jan, I was a complete novice with regard to running. Everything hurt even though I was stretching. Keeping myself hydrated was also very difficult. I would be thoroughly winded even before I was halfway into my workout. After focusing more on drinking enough water, stretching well, resting for a few days whenever the pain was unbearable and incorporating other forms of workout to improve my strength, I can safely say that the C25K plan has transformed my life.

I hope you reap the benefits and enjoy yourself too!

They’ll be a lot of us on here that think you’re a spring chicken. I’m not that much more spring-less than you at 53, but have loved finding running as I’d never done any proper running until C25k started in February.

Just did 10km this morning - only 2nd time ever 😊
