Thanks for all the messages of support and tips. I’ve been doing my runs as soon as I wake (6am) on a nearby football field which is a grass surface. Is it better to run on a hard surface rather than grass?

Week 1 completed
Grass is perfectly fine to start with. You'll be wanting to run a variety of routes at some point, though, otherwise it's going to get boring doing circuits of the same field.
I did all my earlier C25K runs on the road pavement, mostly the same "out and back" route.
When I was doing the later runs (Week 7 onwards) I started to vary the route I ran.
There's nothing wrong with running on grass. When you're feeling stronger you might like to mix in different, less forgiving, surfaces, eg. paving flags and tarmac.
Well done Pauls53! I love it when all those little circles start getting ticks in them ⭕️ ✔️. Nowster is so right in saying you’ll come across a variety of surfaces, from pavement to track in your adventures 😊. Best of luck for week 2 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️.
Grass is more absorbent of impact than tarmac or concrete but also requires a bit more energy, so you will fly when you move onto the hard stuff.
The slightly uneven surface will also develop ankle strength to a greater degree than dead flat concrete.
Well done on completing week 1 👍You will of course have less joint impact on the knees running on grass ,
All my running up to now though has been road or tow path , barely anything on grass , but that's just how it's worked out.
Enjoy the program 😁👍
Happy Running!
Just wanted to say congratulations Pauls53. I'm finding it's a great programme. 👍
