W6 done and dusted!

Having taken 16 goes to complete W5, I was amazed to go straight through W6 with no repeats. It made me wonder, having gone from 20 minutes in W5 to 25 minutes in W6, why do I need 3 more weeks to get to 30 minutes?

I suppose the answer is that I don't. I need three more weeks to get anywhere near 5K. At my current speed 30 minutes will be about 3.2K.

Maybe this time next year!

You are doing great, so relax into your running and enjoy it. Don't make it a chore.

Stick to the plan. It works. You need to continue to gradually build your body's resistance to impact and injury. We are all capable of doing way more than our bodies are conditioned to do, but not without increasing our injury risk. Sticking to gently progressive training plans is the safest way to push our limits, whilst gently increasing our resistance to injury.

Injury often strikes out of the blue and can stop you for days, weeks or even months.

Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.
