Having graduated on Friday i decided to keep up my motivation to continue by heading out to Decathlon to purchase some actual running shoes. This way i couldn't justify not getting up in the morning to do a run.
As this was the first time i had been let off the lead i decided to do a route Laura usually took me on. Like all naughty puppies i started my run two lampposts earlier than Laura usually allows and actually really enjoyed being able to run when i wanted and how long i wanted. It was great not having my owner tell me i had another 20 minutes to go LMAO.
I ended up getting my fastest mile without trying to do so which was pleasing.
I also really enjoyed my running shoes. So much more comfortable to run in than the walking boots i completed the program with. It was like bouncing on a trampoline.
Im so glad the first consolidation run went well otherwise it may have knocked my confidence as i was a little bit apprehensive.
π Happy New Running Shoes, Alan!! π. Iβm agog that you completed the whole 9 weeks of the program in walking boots π³ No wonder you now feel like youβre bouncing on a trampoline! ππΌ βοΈ π π πββοΈ π π π
Well done on your graduation! It certainly does make you feel like you have achieved something great!
And new running shoes! That certainly will help in your progress!
And the lamppost thing- I do that on a hill I have started to incorporate into my runs! Only I add it on the the end of my run! The hill is quite steep, and has 5 lampposts. At first I couldnβt even make the first post, but after telling myself that I could do it, I achieved it a couple of runs later, then I pushed myself to go to the next lamppost(further up the steep hill) then the end of a wall, halfway to the next lamppost, and so on. Last week, I ran to the top of the hill, to lamppost 5! It felt amazing!
I now have 3 hills in my 30 minute run! Once I can do these easily, I will change my route and challenge myself again!
Well done again! Keep at it and enjoy those new shoes!
Wow! Well done on those hills.I haven't incorporated those things into my program yet.
That is one for me to contemplate in the future.
It may be some time ......... ππ
Well done on your run off the lead, I do my first run off Lauraβs lead tomorrow, I hope itβll be cooler, if not itβs a 5 am start. π

Hey Dave,
You will love being off the leash ππ
I think the sun will be shining tomorrow, even down Mumbles way so it might be an early start for you. I certainly preferred the early starts before the sun comes up.
Welsh weather often confuses my weather app, so Iβll hope for a cool day otherwise itβs an early start.
Iβm pushing some weight today in the coolness of my house as an alternative to running.
