I didn't manage my consolidation run today :(

I had a really bad night with abdominal pain, awake for a few hours and this morning, I still felt rough, tummy ache, bad back and also I have a very sore blister at the base of my right big toe (not from running). So, all in all, I just couldn't go for a run. I feel bad that I didn't but I need to look after my health. I'm planning to rest until Tuesday then see how I am then. The night before was bad too as our neighbours were rowing at 1.30 am for about an hour, literally screaming at each other, so the lack of sleep two nights running has caught up with me and I feel knackered.

Let's hope I get some sleep tonight and hopefully, after another rest day, will be feeling up to that first consolidation run :)

Good luck to everyone plodding away at the programme.

Hi pigpog it was probably best not to run after all that, I wouldn't have went out either. Sometimes rest is more important and as they say listening to your body. Hope you're feeling better on Tuesday for the run 🙂

Thanks, tmbtrain , I hope so. I feel surprisingly guilty that I didn't go today. Strange 😳

Aw that sucks you're feeling guilty. Listening to your body is so important so kudos for not pressuring yourself into a run. Hope you feel better soon and get a good sleep. Here's hoping the neighbours have got it out of their system!

Thanks, Running-rings . I doubt though that the neighbours have got it out of their system, it's not the first time we've had this!

You did the right thing, in my book. Running should be enjoyable, not a slog, which it is highly likely to be if your preparation is not up to par, whether it is your fault or your neighbours.

Don't beat yourself up about it, just let running become a relaxed habit in your life not some kind of tyranny.

Good point, IannodaTruffe ! It's just in my mind, it has become an enjoyable habit now and I felt bad missing it, but you are of course correct, it would have been a slog and an extra rest day should hopefully make Tuesday's run even better.

Rest and heal before you try running again, you will run on fresh legs and enjoy it

Thanks, SueAppleRun , if only I could have some fresh legs! And a new back. Now that would be cool 😂

When someone else is rowing, it's best not to stick your oar in. 😉

You need to move, get some decent neighbours!!

That's true, Tonym182 , but moving would not guarantee decent neighbours and it's a nice area to run in!

If it helps at all, I abandoned my run yesterday as I just didn’t feel right. Sometimes you just gotta listen to your body. Luckily the London to Brighton Classic Car Rally was on my way home so I stopped off there instead, saw some nice cars, had an ice cream and walked home. Live to run another day, I say. 👍

Thanks, RunBrianRun , it does help. Sounds like you had a lovely day. Ice cream always makes me feel better too. Nice car! And you had a walk so as you say, live to run another day. I feel better already! 😎
