Ankle pain

Was hoping to complete week9 run 3 yesterday or today but since my last run my ankles have been killing me, I could hardly walk 2 days ago. I did take dogs for a walk yesterday morning and the pain increased again..I'm wondering if my trainers are knackered?! Or what else as I haven't gone over on my ankles but the pain in both of them is awful I'm hobbling around..so I'm not risking my final run today..bit gutted as I wanted to graduate in May 😨

It's most likely to be an ankle sprain, and it's likely to get worse before it gets better.

I'd suggest resting for a few days, possibly up to a fortnight and icing the area (eg. bag of frozen peas wrapped in a thin tea towel) every few hours.

If it persists you're best off seeing a physio.

I graduated with a doubly sprained left ankle. It was four weeks and two physio visits before I could run (very gently) again. Keep safe!

I sprained my ankle indoors last Sunday so been indoors and not able to do much activity. Running will have to wait for a few weeks to avoid causing more injury. So on IC for a while. I hope to get back to gym and walk on treadmill gently in a week or so. Frustrating and it wasn’t even an injury while running and just indoors!

It is unusual to turn both ankles without knowing it, so I suspect your shoes.

Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop?

Yeah thats what i thought being both of them. No these are like trail trainers as i use them off road..I do have proper road ones but dont use them if I'm trail running..I'm going to rest for a few days but go and get some proper trail running shoes so I'm equipped for both..they've been fine up until this week but after walking yesterday I felt it was the shoes
