Ok so I’m due to run w2 r2 tonight, last week I was completely fine little pain then on Monday I ran w2 r1 and as soon as I started I felt both my ankles were sore but I assumed I hadn’t stretched enough beforehand and carried on! Last 2 days they have been bit sore so tonight I thought I’d take the dog a long walk and see how I feel before I jump into the next run, just home and the left ankle seems ok but my right on both sides seems more uncomfortable.
So now do I still try complete my run tonight or wait a couple days? My only concern is the fact it’s my right ankle which is the one I fractured last year!
Anyone else experienced this at this early stage of the programme?

I had ankle pain as a result of an old injury too. It wasn’t painful enough to stop me running but hurt after the run . In the end I sought professional advice from a sports physio and he gave me exercises to strengthen my ankle. I have found that tying my shoes tighter helps. Also you maybe need to look at your running shoes and see if they are supportive enough
I had ankle problems in week 3 and had to stop for three months. It was an old injury and came back to bite me but I know more now. What I should have done was strengthening exercises and I didn't. I knew nothing in those days ☹️ So when the pain goes you should definitely do some (stand on one leg, "write" the alphabet with your foot, stand on a wobble board)
You should rest and not run until the pain goes. Ankle injuries are nortoriously slow to heal as there's little blood supply there. But everyone is different so you might be ok in a few days' time.
But it will heal and get better. I sometimes run with a support if my ankle feels iffy but wait until the pain goes. You're in this for the long haul so a few days/weeks rest is disappointing but not the end of the world in the big scheme of things. Good luck 🙂
Thanks. I decided not to run tonight, will wait few days and see what happens. Just bit disappointed when just getting in to the swing of it as well lol
I think you made the right decision. Pain is the body's way of telling us something's not right and we should pay attention.
I hope a few days' rest will be enough but please don't give up if you have to take a longer time to recover. Honestly, it's worth the wait and there is no hurry. It took me six months to graduate but I'm still running five years since 🙂
If your shoes are okay and you are taking this gently, then go and get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry... The runs will still be there waiting
