Hey all.

So I'm on week 2 and ive just finished day 1. Im super chuffed that I've got even this far as my commitment and willpower isn't always so great! My main gripe is that I'm started to struggle with a aching/nagging feeling in my ankles/over top of foot/bottom of leg joint...unsure if correct foot part!! It doesn't hurt but it aches all the way through the run and for an hour after. Can anyone tell me what this is, will it pass or am I doing something wrong. I really want to keep going but I can't be doing with the aching feeling all through my walk/run. I've attached a pic of the area within the square.

Hi hayl33, I would suggest icing it but also getting a gait analysis done and proper running shoes. You don’t want to be in pain during or after a run. I thought it was normal at the beginning but I got proper running shoes for my gait and it has made the most insane difference for me. X

Is your hydration good? If it is the only times you should be thirsty is first thing in the morning or just after a run. Sip water all day every day.

Also footfall can make a huge difference, keep the feet landing under your body... keep the stride short.

Some aches are normal, your muscles are rebuilding and strengthening after each run.

I hope it's just beginners aches but I've had this aching for a whole now, even walking distances/cardio and lying in bed can cause it to ache. Im thinking a docs appt would be beneficial maybe. I may push through the run today as i dont want to lose motivation by stopping. Item of even painful it's just an annoying aching feeling 🤨

I agree that a change in footwear would probably be helpful. I’m not an expert by any means as I’ve just stalled in week 2 with knee pain, but it does sound like impact-related aches. You could try shock absorbing insoles as a cheaper interim measure, but I’m not sure how well regarded they are. Ultimately gait analysis is the best bet. Hope it settles x

Have you got a link to what the numbers mean? I have pain sometimes in the same area.

Hey, I found the image on google images by searching parts of ankle. Mine isn't painful it's more if an ache, it can ache sometimes when just lying in bed! A lot is pointing to arthritis but I'm going to make a docs appt
