Apologies for boring post. So a bit down in the dumps. Today should have been W3R1 but my L knee is hurting so I'm resting up. It's probably my fault. I know the guide says do this on the flat. My area is steep hills so I thought I would start as I meant to carry on. I think lesson learned. I rest up for a few days and then hopefully carry on running on the flat across the village and round a field. It's going to be boring but hopefully my knee will appreciate it. I shall also be doing the knee strengthening exercises and if all fails, a visit to the physio. I do hsve a horrible feeling that ive locked my knee again as my R knee is a little sore and then fine after a rest day. My plan is to rest up, then start knee strengthening exercises and then when I start running again do the knee exercises after my run. Is this correct?

I think a medical person is best to advise you when you can run over our opinions. But I can totally relate to feeling low about having to pause with running. I’ve had to do this several times now and it’s frustrating. The main thing I would say is you may need longer to rest up and don’t push going back out until you are pain free. I ignored pain and had to have two months off running and I am redoing C25K.After that experience I learnt it’s better to not ignore pain or niggles, otherwise you just make it worse and recovery is longer.
Wishing you all the best and seeing a physio therapist sounds like a good idea as they can identify problem and give you tips with recovery. Good luck! 👍🏻
Knee strengthening exercises can be done every day. I do one legged dips while cleaning my teeth.
