So happy to be back

Started in May19, I got to W5R3 and then had to stop due foot injury. Although I saw physio and podiatrist, the injury went undiagnosed until Dec19. Turned out that I locked my fib at both my knee and ankleπŸ™„. 2020 was a run of chest infections and back problems so I have been very cautious and have got loads of walking in before starting again. W1R3 done and this R3 was a baptism by fire as I was walking and running uphill into a very strong wind 😁. I volunteer at our park run and would love to be able to get round this year.

Welcome back to the forum and well done on restarting. This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you for that info. For some reason I had it in my head that you had to heel strike first. I made it worse by trying to run through the pain. I was non weight bearing for a couple of weeks so I managed to find lots of good advice on here. Wish I had read it all first 😁

The heel striking advice is inexplicably in both the app and podcasts, but is best ignored and if possible avoided.
