Reunited run brought back memories

Today was the first time in a very long time that all of our running group have been able to run together. We had decided to meet up after the school drop-off and do one of the routes we did when doing the C25K.

Although we all keep in contact with quick chats at the school gates, Facebook or the odd run in a pair its not the same as it is when all out on a run together.

We started our walk reminiscing about our repeated week one runs and how we thought we would never progress any further. We got to the end of out walk and started our run. It seemed almost immediately that someone called out as a joke, "That's a minute done, time for our ninety second walk" . It was actually a minute that had gone by. Now on W1R1 we were almost gasping for breath at that point but now thought absolutely nothing of it.

At the start of the C25K we had a route that took us nicely into the park where we could do our cool down walk and stretching. As the weeks progressed we changed the route to increase its length so we got to the park at the end. the longest route took us nicely to the park on W9. When we got to the gates (previously a sign we were nearing the end) a voice shouted out "We have a few laps of the park to do to make up the 30 minutes", and I thought we had run slowly!! It just shows how much we have improved.

Two laps was all it took and then down to a walk. A minute into the walk and you would hardly know we had run at all, a sharp contrast to when we were on W9.

We got to the playground in the park where we do out stretching. Its a nice area covered in the rubber tarmac stuff.

We walked on and started stretching, then noticed that we were getting wet feet as puddles were appearing where we stood. The rubber stuff must have been floating on water and as we quickly walked off we could feel it moving, yuck.

We finished out stretching on the path and headed home. a good time had by all (except for the wet feet). Unfortunately as circumstances have changed, we are not able to all get together as regularly as before but plan to do it at alternate weeks if possible.

Hi GottaImprove 👋 It must have been so nice getting together for the run again. Hopefully ye can all squeeze the group run into your routines! 🤞

It was great to all be back together. When we originally started, we used the group to help motivate ourselves to keep going and and improve our running. We all became really good friends. Our first get together did nothing to improve our running as we spent more time chatting and acting like school girls than serious running. Even so, we still could see how we have improved vastly since then.

On completing the C25K we had planned on all going out for a meal in celebration of our achievement but due to Covid that never happened. That seems so long ago but hopefully one day soon we will be able to do it.

Until then, we will definitely find time to fit in runs together.

I see a few people on here reward themselves with new running clothes on completing goals! I've a basic running wardrobe so far😄..added a belt/bag to carry my phone and keys as my graduation prize!!😅 Looking forward to eating out again though when I'm fully vaccinated..maybe a meal out will motivate me on the next goal! Thanks for the idea 😁
