Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

In many ways giving up finding excuses and getting out and doing that first run is the hardest part of C25K for many of us. Keep reporting your progress here and make friends on the way. Enjoy your journey. Good luck.

Well done for starting this fantastic journey. You will see, as you progress, that the whole programme is eminently achievable, provided that you follow the advice. Most important for me was to ensure that I did not run on the rest days. The rest days allow your body to adapt to the new stresses and strains that your body is undergoing.

The feelings that you get when you achieve a run are incredible. It lifts you for the whole day.

So good luck and keep everyone posted of your progress.

Well done you! It’s the biggest one of them all :) I’ve just finished w3 and am feeling similar, that sense of achievement keeps building! Keep at it 👏👏

And so you should. Good luck with the rest of the programme, although I'm sure you won't need luck, just belief 👍

Hello. I also had my first run yesterday. I have been building myself up for months to get going again. I did the C25K some time ago and ran regularly. This gradually waned and then stopped. Not done any for over 12 months. Put on shed loads of weight and feeling negative about myself. So yesterday my journey began again. Good luck on yours.

You can't get to week 9 without week 1 so you are well on your way already

Yay! Well done! It sometimes feels tough as you start new runs in this journey you're starting, but it can be done. I'm 60 this year, and am not a runner by any means, but I feel so much better for it and healthier. I'm on week 7.I going my lovely. Xxx

Well done to you Ceri1985 on starting C25K with running run 1 of week 1, I saw a report recently that some doctors are recommending exercise and some running programs such as C25K to their patients instead of giving them pills, it is very important for you to read Iannodatruffe's guide to the plan, excellent information in that article, I wish you well on your running journey with C25K
