THE END OF ONE JOURNEY THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER.

Finally managed to run a fraction under 30mins, 9 days after graduating. I'm pleased with this for two reasons. Firstly, it actually came as a bit of a surprise, I run wearing gloves and didn't look at my watch until I reached my 5km marker. secondly it marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. The 1st August 2020 was when this journey began. I was obese with a BMI of 31 and couldn't run for a full minute. Between then and starting C25K (22/01/21) I dieted and power walked to lose a total of 19kg. During the next 9 weeks I lost another 3kg and what a difference that's made to my health. I no longer have high blood pressure and have not had gout since I started dieting. My watch tells me I have a Vo2 max of 39 and a body age of 49, Mr Garmin clearly doesn't know me because I'm 61. If a very ordinary guy like me can do this, then anyone can.

Congratulations on running a sub 30 minute 5k and losing that BMI and weight, one thing you must do is change your username, you no longer run like a snail.

Well done.Do remember that to keep developing your body you need to spend 80% of your running time at and easy conversational pace.......faster is not necessarily better.

You're right, but sometimes, just sometimes, when you've come from a long way back like me, you just have to go for the finishing line. I now intend to slow down, build stamina, and set running 6km as my next challenge.
