I posted previously about very sore calves and it’s these that are stopping me going any further at around 21 min mark. They just seem to seize up and I have to stop
I’m going to start the strength and flex to help them but here’s my question .. do I keep attempting the run and just stay on week seven or do I drop back a run or take a weeks break ? Not sure ? I want to get my gait tested but the shop it shut 😢
I’m doing all the before and after stretches we are meant to do and have a massage stick. I tried a salt bath which did help a little and I’ve put deep heat on before I’ve gone out haha. Am also taking it quite slow but no matter what I do my calves are so tight
Thank you !

Thank you. Am going to try the flex program over the coming weeks and see if it helps any as you had suggested Do you think I should keep trying for week 7 or go back a bit ? Thanks for your help iannoda
I had a similar problem at the start of week 8 - ten minutes in and my left calf muscle just seized up. I took a week's rest before trying again, but then my right calf muscle seized up!
After another week's rest both legs were fine and I resumed week 8. Starting week 9 shortly.
I'd had no major difficulties before week 8 so don't know what caused the calf problems. My Covid-19 jab was a few days earlier but I had a couple of successful week 7 runs after that so I don't think there was a connection.
I've had to cut back and have more rest days on my journey to 10K. It's just your body catching up. If essential you can rest a whole week (and do strength and flex and foam rolling).
just read about your week 7 and this is absolutely no way an informed opinion but something that helps me as I have tight calves. I use pulseroll on my calves and thighs. Its a vibrating pulse roller and really eases my legs out
