SO LONG, FAREWELL, AUF WIEDERSEHEN, GOODBYE

No, it's not a farewell to running, but it is a farewell to the first half of C25K for me. I have done it. I have reached humpday. I am now on the downhill stretch. I've only gone and done it. Last week I ran the W5R2 which is the exact halfway- point. I then ran W5R3, the dreaded W5R3 2 days later, and a day earlier than my schedule was due for it, and it did hurt. It hurt my legs but I was NOT going to stop. I can be a stubborn and curmudgeonly old goat at times.

My Garmin told me off for overdoing it, and I shall listen to it and run more slowly for my much gentler W6R1 tomorrow. I am duly and justly chastised.

I've just run W6R1. Be warned, as commented by many others who have done C25K before us. Althought it is shorter it seems a harder run than W5R3 was.

Just to add; spending most of one of my two rest days over the weekend up a step ladder probably didn't do anything to help my muscules recover from the 20 minute run on Friday.

Thanks for the reply and the heads up about what I have tomorrow.i shall go into it with my eyes wide open... EEK!! An early night and a decent salmon tabouleh tonight, so no heavy tummy at 7:00 tomorrow morn. Happy running.

Aha, that'll teach you! You shouldn't miss rest days when you're building up, because those are the days when the muscles repair and build strength. Although it's perfectly ok to take an extra rest day if your body is telling you it needs it. Having said that, well done, it's such a great milestone to reach. Just watch out for week 6, the stopping and starting again can come as a bit of a shock for some reason. I think it starts to be a mental challenge as much as anything. Best of luck, but I reckon you aren't going to need any luck, you've got this! 💪👍

Thanks, and thanks for the vote of confidence. I did W6R1 this morning and it was fine... so fine in fact that as I was quite some distance from my car I did an additional 5:15 as my legs seemed so happy. Run, walk and stretches all complete, and then a lovely bath.Domestic goddess time now with the vacuum cleaner and duster👗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Also, I have just watched the BBC Scotland Adventure Show where Donnie Campbell smashes the Munro run record. The Celtman is also covered... BONKERS, they are all bloody BONKERS!

It's available on iPlayer.

Result!!Munro running eh. I swear these people are a different species. I remember before lockdown, struggling up a scree slope in the lake District, clinging on for dear life, and two runners bounded past me like their feet were on springs. Lord I felt old😁 (not that I could have done that in my twenties either!)
