Got through first 3 weeks ok and then did first run week 4. I pushed myself to limit to run for 5 Mon blocks and then spent 36 hours in bed with bad fatigue and shaking all over! Knew I'd struggled but didn't expect such kickback. Did all warm ups, water, nutrition etc. Too nervous to continue at moment. Anyone else suffer badly when overexerting. Program tells you to push through!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

Could you speak aloud, clear ungasping sentences as you ran.........if not, you were going too fast.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I could speak - my heartbeat was up at 170 but only in running phases. Just immense fatigue kicked in about 2 hours after the run.

If I were you I would talk to my GP.

You may have been coming down with a bug, but it is not normal to have to spend 36 hrs in bed, fatigued and shaking, after a relatively short workout.
