Just completed my first run of week 3 in the pouring rain! Starting to really like this running thing, especially having always been someone who “is not built for running.”
Would really love to think that I’ll carry on running after Couch to 5k but just not sure if that’s wishful thinking? Did anyone else have the same feelings but finish the programme still loving it?
I didn't particularly expect to carry on running after graduating C25K. But more than 5 years later I am still lacing up, and running ultramarathons in fact!
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
I first did C25K nearly 8 years ago and am currently on W2 redoing the plan after chemotherapy. There are plenty of regular contributors to the forum who have been here as long as me and many have gone on to run half marathons, marathons and ultras, while others, like me, are content just to run in beautiful surroundings, at one with nature, not concerned with distance or bling.
Maybe not, but this old curmudgeon would rather the resources were used for something important, rather than tacky and ultimately disposable mementos. Running achievement should be measured by personal satisfaction in my book.........not medals of dubious provenance.
I am sure you agree, roseabi but I may stir up a hornet's nest with my view..............
Thanks so much for all this info, I’ve had a good read and all helpful stuff. Either way it’s great to hear people building life long habits off the back of C25K
very sorry to hear you have needed chemotherapy - hope it worked and all is well now. You are an inspiration to us all
Loads, just go to the forum of Bridge to 10K and look around there! I myself graduated early January (ok that is not so long yet, but still) and yesterday I did my consolidation run number 12. Am following a plan now to reach 60 minutes of running. I will keep running 30 minutes during the week and in the weekend I will slowly lengthen my runs until I reach 60 minutes. You just have to find fun in running, you will go on!

Congrats on graduating and that’s so encouraging to hear you’re still enjoying it! Good luck for the 60mins
I graduated in August and still go 3 times a week, distance depends on the time I have. I do mostly 4, 5 or 6k although I have done a couple of 10ks. I don't always enjoy the runs themselves but I always enjoy the feeling of achievement at the end and in my 50s I am probably fitter than I have ever been. Good luck and keep going, it is addictive x
I think a lot of us wonder that at some stage. Over 3 years on I'm still hooked running between 20 and 30 miles a week. I've done 4 marathon length runs and usually do one or two half marathon length runs in a week. I don't do events, my runs are my events, that time in nature communing with the trees, the hills and the views, it's almost spiritual at times. I'm not sure I could manage without it now. All this from a confirmed couch potato who not too long ago wouldn't have even tried to run for a bus or a 50 pound note... 🤣
It’s 6 months this week that I started couch to 5K and I’ve regularly ran 3 times a week since and yesterday completed my first 10 mile run. I only set out to run for 30 minutes when I started but got hooked, I run for my head more than anything, but it’s addictive and I love a challenge. Happy running 🏃🏽♀️
I graduated on 24th Jan 2021 and have since run twice for 30 minutes, planning to go again tomorrow (Thursday) and Sunday. My goal is to run twice per week. I've found a good 5k route close to home so I will do that a few times, with no emphasis on time - just doing the kms 😀
I finished it still loving it, C25k introduces you to running, then when you graduate you build on that, since graduating I’ve achieved a sub 30 min 5k, progressed to 10k, and from there 10 miles 👍🏃♂️
We graduated around October 2019 and although don’t run as often through winter we still run at least twice a week, roll on spring when it will be nicer weatherLoads of people fall in love with running during this programme
I am sure your question is already answered by the many happy runners above! Five years on for me - still running and loving it! I run 2-3 tines a week, usually two 5/6k runs and a longer run at the weekend. I ran my first half marathon aged 52 - so be careful, this running thing is very addictive!🙂😂🏃🏽♀️ It all started here with Couch to 5k and this forum! Dream big and make it happen!😀
