Couch to 5K Running

Whenever I start Running to complete the couch to 5K I lose my motivation after 3 or 4 days.

I am 25 years old and do not have any injury or pain.

Any Tips how I can stay motivated for longer periods?

Why do you want to do the c25k? Do you have a goal? A lot of us have some type of reason why we're doing it and it helps us get through the weeks, especially when we're not feeling the joy or our minds start saying give up its hard. Mine is because I have 3 children who I'd like to see grow up so I want to be as fit and healthy as I can. A friend did it as she'd always wanted to do a 5k run for charity. Think about your reasons and when you get fed up remember them.

I think willpower is a good tool to have and tell yourself you're not going to give up . Tell yourself at the end of this I Will be able to run for 30 minutes non stop and also you've got to want to do it, of you really don't like running maybe find some form of exercise you do like good luck

Set goals and remember why you came here. Give yourself a little treat for completing each week. Set reminders and alarms for when you will be running.

Try breaking the 4 day loop. Once you've done this, aim for one more run. If you stop after 5 or 6 days (which is effectively nearly 2 weeks of the programme) just give yourself credit for breaking the 4 day streak. When you're ready to start again, aim to break the last streak. Just keep going. Perhaps for you the programme will help you break patterns of belief which are non serving. Do it at you pace. If you keep trying and breaking old streaks, you'll get there. You'll also have conquered limiting beliefs.

I think Agentmay has it right for me. My goal was just to see if I could do it, plus a bit of knowing I needed to do something regular that raises my heart rate. From those seemingly long 90 second runs to my current 25 minutes for Week 7 has been a real surprise every week. I have discovered as well that route matters to me - I need to be outside, whatever the weather, and am full of admiration for those who go forward on the dreadmill circuit. Good luck with finding what works for you: read the forum & try new things ‘til you find the right combo. 😄
