After my euphoria at the weekend of completing W5R3, it appears that I'm not quite ready for a 10k just yet after all, ha ha. First run of week 6 done last night, enjoyable but seemed slightly harder for some reason; that may be down to the run I squeezed in the night before though.

The one thing I've really noticed in recent runs, and curious whether anyone else is experiencing the same, is my breathing. When I first started it always seemed like I couldn't quite cram in enough air but now its definitely a lot easier. Its slowly crept up on me but I'm no longer finding myself trying to gulp down as much as I can and when I actually pay attention, it's obviously heavier than normal but no longer laboured. Even when I've completed the last run of a session before the cool down, I'm not gasping and it returns to normal quite quickly. I guess its a biproduct of the programme but one that I'm certainly happy about.

Anyway, looking forward to W6R3 near the end of the week.

Congratulations on completing your longest workout to date.......... W6R1 catches out more people than any other run in the programme.

You make it sound as if you ran on consecutive days......... please don't. When you run, the impact creates microtears in your muscles, which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk increased.

I too got caught out in W6 R1 but thanks to advice from IannodaTruffe and reading the important and vital couch to 5k info, got back on track. I repeated that run and carried on, next for me is W8 R3. I am now looking forward to being a graduate and extending my distance. I am still slow but I don't care, I haven't tackled any hills yet and still get out of breath walking up stairs!!!

Yeah, he’s definitely a great source of support and information. Good luck with W8, I’m looking forward to being there myself. The speed and distance is somewhat secondary to me, from my perspective it the consistency, I’m sure the others will come in time. 👍
