Week 6 - A mixed bag and a heavy dose of reality

So after finally coming down from the heady heights of week 5, run 3 and just feeling totally amazed that I ran for an entire 20 minutes (and then some), I went into week 6 feeling rather naively invincible.

It's been a funny old week. Run 1 was ok, bit strange going back to intervals but ok, a bit of a 'meh' run really.

Run 2 was hell on earth and really dented my confidence - my legs felt every millisecond of each 10 minute section and it felt like it was never going to end. The first time in the programme that I felt like giving up.

I've just completed run 3 and whilst I'm really proud that I ran the full 25 mins (just 6 weeks ago I was a quivering mess) and it felt relatively comfortable, the sense of euphoria that I got on week 5 just isn't there.

However, MJ says that I can now call myself a runner so I'll take that for now. Onwards and upwards, hello week 7!!!

I know exactly what you mean, I had to dig deep to get through week 6! But I'm back on track on week 7, slow but sure!

You've just described my week 6 too. Wk7 was much less meh in my experience. Keep going Runner 😊

Yay! Less 'meh' sounds good to me 🤗

Snap; but then suddenly you do week 7 and it's like, "Ah, this is why I do this". You're over the hump, you'll be fine!! Best of British for the next one! Xxx

I think week 6 is a very strange week for so many after the euphoria of w5r3 BUT yes you are a runner as the next 3 weeks will prove to you

Thanks all, I always feel better when amongst my fellow virtual c25k runners. Bring on the next three weeks. Happy running!!

There are loads of people who find week 6 surprisingly hard. For me w6r1 was a smack in the face. I went out full of post-w5r3 confidence and was amazed to find it really hard. Push on through - you've already cracked this - you're on the home straight!

Hi runner... ! Slow down now and start to feel your happy pace as the runs get longer... :)

W6 messes with your head or it did mine, this was when I had a full blown tippy tantrum.... but Mr Smooth is right you are a runner and W7 is back to longer intervals, so am sure you'll be fine.

I felt a bit like that in week 6 and I really did not enjoy wk 7 but really enjoyed run 1 of wk 8 out again later so see how that goes. Keep going doing so well.
