So after a week of sean sun and far too much fun I set off on run 1 of week 8 today with the usual fears - I won't be able to run after a week off etc etc. Decided to do the run to music rather than the app (much as I love Michael Johnson, I really don't want to know when I am halfway through as I usually feel totally cream crackered at that point and just want to finish) so put my whole playlist on shuffle and set off. Was also determined not to look at my watch but as I mostly do the same route I have a pretty good idea of where I am in relation to timings, So got to approximately half way and Fight Song came on - wow what a great song to run to - really motivational and the beat matched my stride - loved it and upped my pace a tiny bit for 3 minutes or so. However two tracks later I got Michael Buble singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas which is NOT motivational (only 14 weeks till Xmas!) or a good beatI I pressed on and must admit I was loving the running to music - not done it before and it really helped keep the Gremlins away (the ones that tell me I am running out of breath so why don't I stop). The first time I looked at my watch I had been running for 25 minutes so only 3 to go - and go I did - albeit very slowly now as I was tired. I nailed it! 28 minutes of running and I covered 3.9 kms!. Really buzzing today - it's so good to be back to the C25k routine and such a relief I am keeping on track. Two weeks till next holiday and I WILL graduate by then!
