What's the best way to start again?

I was completely new to running so when I graduated C25K in August last year I was really pleased. Then quite soon after I sorta lost it - seemed I couldn't run without Sarah Millican telling me what to do, and then it got very hot.... and there were other excuses too....

Anyway, I want to run 5K again! Does anyone have any tips? Should I start at week 1 and do the whole programme? Or something else?

If you've not really been running since last summer Fly26 I'd go back and work through the plan again from week 1 as you'll need to build up that stamina again 👍

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your decision.

Your body needs to be reconditioned to the impact of running, which is best done by starting from scratch, as I am doing having not ran since October.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

This is a bit suck-it and see. Maybe try Week 3 or 4, see how it feels. If too much, go back to Week 1 or 2 and see how you go.

Set your 3 run days and stick to them. Move them for sure if needed, like due to weather, but always run 3 times a week at least. Remember the post run high. That’s what motivates me. And always slow down.
