C25k+ Stepping Stones

Finally got out this morning for a run, first one since Christmas Day morning. It was cold but above freezing and all of the ice had gone, thankfully.

I did the Stepping Stones podcast for the first time and found it really hard to keep to the beat as it was slower than my usual pace. I really tried to stick to the 150 or 155 bpm and thought I had managed it until I got home and uploaded stats to see that my average was 170 bpm! Yet I thought I was going incredibly slowly and it made my knees ache!

I will try the Speed and Stamina ones next.

Snap! I did my first consolidation run yesterday. I also think I was faster than the beats.. will need to check stats is it on strava you see this?

Hi, I treated myself to a Garmin 45S smart watch for Xmas as it was on a special offer. It works with an app on my phone that gives me a detailed breakdown of average moving pace, speed, and cadence. I don't carry my phone on a run, it syncs when I get home. Sorry I have not used any smart apps to measure my run, but many people use Strava or Mapmyrun.

It has been snowy and icy all week, so it was lovely to get out for a run first thing this morning, with a bit of sunshine, and most of the ice had gone.

My average cadence this morning was 182, going at my normal pace, listening to my music, and I did 5 km in 36:02. I am very pleased with that :)

Ah . I use garmin vivoactive 3 watch. Syncs when get home. I also have strava app.. I dont use it directly to record. But the garmin app and strava app sync.

I've just looked at the data there and I'm taking less strides but must be longer stride length than yours. Shows as average 170spm and stride length 0.88 and I did 5km in 33.46 on this run .

I must try taking more steps per minute and see how that effects stride length. I guess if I can keep large strides then I get run finished a little quicker! Experimenting with different things now I've completed c25k.

Have you tried the speed and stamina ones yet? I plan to try the speed one see what advice is on it

Maybe you have long legs! The weather turned icy and snowy again, then two days of very heavy rain with some local flooding, so the running is off again for now. Everywhere is muddy and water logged, so not much fun. I will attempt a 5 mile walk tomorrow :)
