I have been having a few aches in my lowere back after my last few runs so this has put me off a little , however it has been ok now for a few days so decided to give it a go .
The other reason is i broke a front crown off one of my teeth, and it is quite sensitive to cold (and heat)
So running in a temp of 1 degree and feeling toothache as the cold air comes into your mouth is not much fun and unfortunately the dentist can't see me 😐
Fortunately I got used to it after the first k.
So, I'm not running much at the moment , just trying to keep ticking over until the weather improves a bit.
I have actually been considering buying a treadmill so I can still run when I don't want to go out ! But I'm still undecided ,
Opinions welcome, and even recommendations , make, model ?
Anyway, as always, I feel better for my run but can't deny I'm looking forward to the spring 🙂

Sorry to hear about your tooth and that the dentist can’t see you.
Well done for your 5K, though. Another sub 40 minute one to keep you ticking over! 👏👏👏
Can’t help you with the treadmill I’m afraid. I know you’ve been thinking about it for a while. If you think you are more likely to keep up your running with one, then it can only be a Good Thing! 👍
No, I didn't wear a mask and unfortunately the Crown is not on a post , or if it was the whole thing broke off so almost gum level, I don't think a temporary fix is an option here
Oh sorry to hear about your tooth hope you are able to get an appointment soon. Well done for getting out there today must have been really tough. Well done on your first run of the year.
Personally I don’t like treadmills and can’t imagine it can be as enjoyable as being outside, even in the cold!!
Yes as I have thought about some sort of buff, will see how I go ! It's ok at the moment thank you , normally just something hot or cold sets it off , I can (I will have too) live with it for now !
Glad to know your feeling ok , do take care and hope you get a good night's sleep 👍 x
Well done for getting out there today. Must admit a dreadmill is the last thing I would want to run on but everyone's different. Trouble is they are so boring and I think it would stop me from getting out in the fresh air as I'd feel obliged to get some use out of it once I'd parted with my hard earned cash😁 As an ex-rugby player was always used to getting out there in the elements so definitely not on my wish list.😂🏃
Hello Instructor57. Life Fitness Elevation Series are the treadmills I’ve always found the best in any gym I’ve ever belonged to. I have a feeling they don’t come cheap though! Happy hunting and I hope the tooth improves. 😊
I started the programme in September and I've done all my running on a treadmill this time round, mainly because I know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't go out in cold wet weather 🙄, so I thought I'd get into the routine on a treadmill, then hit the roads when the weather improves. We've had our treadmill for nearly 20 years, and between us, over the years, it has probably had enough use to justify the purchase, although there have been long periods when it has mainly been used for hanging the washing off!
Ours is a Reebok TR2. It has been great, although it has developed a bit of a graunching sound since Christmas (and before anybody says it, no, it isn't groaning under my massively increased bulk 🤣). Still, it is getting on a bit now, and this is the first time it has thrown a wobbly, so can't really complain.
I don't think the TR2 is available any more (also, it is very large, so I'd hesitate to recommend it for that reason), but I'd certainly look at a Reebok machine again.
Me too with the lower back, by the way. I need to start the pilates again!
Hi, I’ve been using the treadmill this week - because of the weather and odd work hours - after running outside for weeks. Finding it a tad boring (need a “Where’s Wally”to look at) however it serves a purpose at the moment. I still intend to try and run outside once a week though. I’d definitely recommend a tread for times like these. I’m lucky I bought a second hand one some years ago that I’ve kept in the garage and it’s finally getting some use 😂
Good you are ticking over, it is hard getting out when the weather is so cold. Bring on the spring , can’t wait ☀️I’m with Rebecca on the treadmill, I think it’s so much better getting outdoors if you can, but everyone is different. Maybe you can hang off, spring is really just round the corner
I use a treadmill sometimes just for convenience. If it’s dark after work or bad weather it means I can still run. It’s boring to do a longer run but it can be really useful to use for shorter speed runs. I’m working on running 4K in under 30 mins and have shaved 2 mins off my original time by systematically hitching up the speed by small increments. As long as I can get out for one longer run per week I’m happy. It’s a Profitness from Amazon. Cheap as chips, very basic and quite old. It only shows time, distance and calories. It has 3 manual incline positions. Don’t know if I’d recommend it but it does for me. It’s really heavy so you can’t move it around, but It folds up very easily.
Sorry about your back and tooth. Pretty heroic to get out at all in this weather I think!I'm not sure about a treadmill. You might remember I bought one before the first lockdown, but it was hardly used. I think it depends if you want to enjoy your runs, or if it's about the exercise! Enjoying a treadmill run at home just wasn't happening for me. I used to enjoy treadmill runs in a gym, but at home, I was distracted by being in my house.
