Running in icy conditions

Woke up this morning, ready to go out for a run, having had just over a week off due to a suspected knee sprain. However, the pavements look so treacherous which would mean I’d have to run on the road. How do people manage to run on ice? I’m so disappointed because I was really looking forward to repeating W2R2 having had the week off. Don’t want to lose any motivation.

Same here. Couldn't even get up our steep drive so thought no, won't risk it. So I think I might go later when it's thawed a bit. So my answer to you is be sensible don't risk it! Try later 😃

I know. Just going to have to wait

Don't run on ice is the simplest and safest answer. When it is frosty or icy, grass is the most secure surface to run on.Take care.

I did the same, but it was my first run, so I made myself! It wasnt too bad where the sun was on it

Well done for doing it! It was still dark this morning so I didn’t want to slip on black ice on the road. Also since I broke my ankle a couple of years ago, I’ve been cautious about slips. It’s shining here so hopefully I can get out later.

Hi Runnerbean11 , same here! I left the house in the hope I'd be able to run but it was too icy, decided to walk instead met a few runners who attempted to run on ice, and roads but that was just too much! 🏃🏃‍♀️

That’s what I was afraid of. Just going to have to wait until it melts. Walks are fine for now

I’ve just been out. The side the road where the sun has been all morning is fine now. The other side isn’t 🤣 Just run up and down the pavement on a main road on the sunny side.
