today i tried my w4r1 for the 3rd time and managed to increase my total running time from 4mins to 10mins to 11.11 minutes... far short of the 16 minutes they're after. i was knackered and could go no further... except then i heard the music end and jo whiley start to round off and i suddenly said to my BF 'watch this' and ran properly (as in ran fast-ish) for about 15/20 seconds. i felt free. but i felt like 'what was that??" cos i had been totally exhausted . any ideas?

You weren’t totally knackered, you just needed to catch your breath, it’s great to read your post and see your stamina, fitness and confidence growing, that feeling of freedom is what it’s all about, feeling your body carry you along, something you never realised it was capable of.....well done DTC, 💪🏻 🏃‍♀️

I did say Week 4 was tough. But you are getting closer now. Plus you've built ip some more stamina to make the transition to Week 5 that much easier.Keep it up.

Beautiful! Embrace that freedom. That’s what that was 👌... it just got deflected onto the tiredness.

Just follow the C25K plan, be patient the aim is to get you running for 30 minutes and (as you have already noticed) you will slowly improve and at the at the end of week 6 you will be a runner. The aim is to start off slowly which will build up your stamina for longer runs and celebrate each run as an achievement to your goal. Loads of advice of what you can do after you graduate on here and nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c... and C25k+ podcasts nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c... to help you improve your running technique and help you improve your speed and stamina. Keep up the good work.

Hey!!! Well done. Knew you could crack W4!! And that amazing little burst of speed that is actual running?? I just love to do that too (at 64 I must look insane!!) And when it happens I can’t help but laugh out loud and grin like a kid - it’s such an amazing feeling of freedom! Good luck with your running... and do keep posting too! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️👍🏻

Ah. But you will crack it for sure!! And nowsters plan sounds good too. Like many others on this forum I remember having to repeat week 3-4 myself but the plan really does work... Stick with it!

All the best.
