I batted off the gremlins this morning and was out for my run by 7am with a new 80's club classics soundtrack downloaded last night. Yeh..baby.."Pump up the Jam" and the tunes kicked off, I was on my way 💥 Legs feeling very creaky this morning after my mega strength training session yesterday. Old me would have thought 'no exercise for 3 days at least to recover'. New me had Coach Dyer on her tail, "shut it precious! get movin' NOW" 🤣 🤣 🤣
Not to be deterred by the tumbleweed in the park - no one there?? where were all the regulars?? - my aim was a steady 5km in whatever time I did it in. Started steady, running into the wind...ugh... headed into my usual route and was looking forward to the new diversion I'd planned to start mixing things up.. All going well. Steady pace. Hit the new part of my route down a ramp/path under the railway, and UP the other side.. Just about managed to keep running on the up section! Had to stop to cross a few roads, jogging on the spot to keep moving (I always used to look at runners doing that and think "really??? do you really need to keep moving on the spot?? get over yourselves" ha now I know!)
So, I arrived in a new neighbourhood, some new streets and lovely houses to look at..woohoo. Enjoyed that and came back, down and up again..BUT, damn these inclines 😰
Also, major nose running this morning!! Must have tissues up sleeves not in belt around waist.. I'm just not good at having to take anything out of that belt mid-run, puts me right off my stride. Thought of you SD with similar nose running probs 🤪
An uneventful run really but took it slow and steady, clocked 5.01km in 36min flat. Not my best 5km..was it the inclines that slowed me down? Trying not to feel a bit blah at the slower time (my best so far has been 34.33min) It's another one in the bag and I'm feeling stronger and fitter on each run so am starting to see real progress, particularly with my stamina and ability to push on.
Happy running everyone today - may the wind be behind you!! 😀 😀 🌬 💨

Made me chuckle about the jogging on the spot before crossing the road 😂. I felt exact same way as you about seeing others do it before I started doing it myself 😂
Oh and I’ve always got a tissue in my pocket, can’t get through a run without a nose wipe 😁
Well done- you’re doing great -good pace and distance. It shakes it up a bit when you run somewhere different- I’m going to give it a try at lunchtime for my run- I’m not taking Coach Dyer with me though- I need the gentle touch!
Yeah it was good- first time I’ve run in my dinner hour- it was sunny but very cold and windy but the breeze was nice cos I get boiling running! 4K - my usual
Great write up. As soon as you said ‘under the railway’, I knew what was coming (like you always know when the monster is going to show up in a horror movie). ‘Oh, no!’ I thought, ‘not under the railway! Don’t do it!’
Not sure I’m looking forward to this Coach Dyer, I keep hearing about, but then never thought I’d look forward to running. Never say never.
Ha! I know, what was I thinking 'under the railway'..but it gets me over to a really nice part of town and I knew I'd have to take the hit to get there 😀ahhh... It gave a whole new meaning to "getting a wriggle on" getting up the other side. Running form not quite text book!!!
"Coach Dyer" is the invention of our friend Jericho and is based on Danny Dyer's character in EastEnders with his cockney no nonsense "advice" it's keeping us all amused when we need a bit of a kick up the *** 😂
Haha 😂 That running on the spot comment rang so very true. I got stuck behind some dawdling dog walkers on my last run and got so frustrated that they wouldn’t let me past and I was basically running on the spot behind them. I would’ve thought what is that numpty doing?? until very recently!! 🤣
Well done on another 5km too - don’t worry about the time (although that looks v respectable to me) you’re still consolidating 🦌🦌👍 I’m sure coach Dyre will soon whip you into shape 🤛🤣
