Just completed my first run, although I was anxious about running in public initially by the end of the 5k I was running down my street. I'm muddy and sticky but I feel good. I do think ill need to go more than 3 times a week, assuming that would be ok? Alot more unfit than I originally thought haha!!
First run!: Just completed my first run... - Couch to 5K
First run!
You didn't run a full 5km did you?
It's OK to run more than 3 times a week but you absolutely must have a rest day between runs.
Congratulations on completing run 1 of week 1 of C25K and welcome to the forum, you don't need to run a 5K in week 9, let alone week 1 or run any more than 3 times a week, keep ridgidly to the program, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 1, no more running 5Ks at this early stage of your running journey. 😊 🏃🏾
First run , 5k ??? 🤔
I'm a bit confused DragonGirl93 - do you mean you did Week 1 Run 1 of C25K? Or have you actually gone out there and run 5km? Because there's a pretty big difference!
Your enthusiasm is great, but don't go overdoing it. As others have said, you really do need to take a rest day between runs, and follow the C25K programme structure.
I'm living proof that if you do, you can go from being a non-runner to running for 30 minutes by the end of the programme.
Happy running!
I realise I've confused people, so sorry! No I've just completed week 1 run 1. I ran for 8 minutes in total. I think I'd be in the back of an ambulance now if I had of actually ran the full 5k
You must take at least one day's rest between runs.
In theory you could do 4 runs in week if you started on a Monday, but you will benefit from one 2 day rest per week (sometimes more) especially as you progress. It will help your recovery and you will get better at this game.
Oh and enjoy it, if only for the feeling after you've finished each run.
