I found the run so hard this time. I only managed half of the runs. Please tell me it gets easier!
Week 1 r2: I found the run so hard this time. I... - Couch to 5K
Week 1 r2
Hi there...are you running a slow and steady pace? The advice I was given from most people was to think snail or tortoise,!! And also to be able to speak a sentence out loud without gasping. Have a read of the FAQ POST........HOW TO RUN C25K link...loads of great advice re making sure you're well hydrated /warm ups & cool downs etc etc. My runs def got easier once I'd slowed down...good luck. Stick with the programme, it works....and repeat whatever runs and weeks you need to if necessary. 👍👍👍🙋
Yes, Jo, it gets easier! I'm not that far ahead of you, in week 3. I found W1R2 probably the hardest one of all so far - I really didn't think I would be able to finish it. By the end of the 3rd run 2 days later I finally felt ok at the end, like I could carry on a bit further. And since then, each run has got easier and easier, and so more and more enjoyable and rewarding.
So keep going - Go Jo!!
Well done for starting! If you think you are slow, slow down even more - seriously! This should be a slow jog, especially if you are struggling a bit. You will be fine but snail's pace is key!
Thanks will give that a go next time and hopefully it will be a better run 😁
It gets easier! Don't worry about your last run. Put it down to experience and repeat it before you move on to run 3. You don't have to complete the plan in 9 weeks, it took me 6 weeks to get to the end of week 4. Also I think being 50+ i've occasionally needed more than one rest day in between runs to recover sufficiently, especially at the beginning. Stick to the plan, read the excellent advice this forum provides, run as slowly as your brisk walk (yes, it's still running - both feet off the ground at the same time) and you'll get there. 🐌
Thank you that sounds great advice! I think I will repeat it but leave 2 days in between 😁
I, too couldn't do all the runs and realised I had to slow right down- I'm 64 and am now at week 9 - water and plenty of stretches beforehand and going at a very slow pace has got me where I am- plus plenty of deep breathing through the nose when I'm flagging!!!- it ALL works, you'll get there- I also leave two days at least between runs- that works too!- all the best.
