So this was the first time I have used the Nike Run Club App.
And decided to go for 'A whole run' .
I'm a big fan of Andy P from mindfulness so thought this would be a good one to start with.
It's a 45 minute run rather than a distance run .
This was my 3rd run in a week but as my first one last Thursday was the first for 13 days I wanted to keep this one slow .
So I was happy with the pace and splits I managed today .
It was just turned 11:00 when I went out and around 12 degrees, so shorts and tee shirt were fine .
It was a good run with no problems , knees were fine so happy about that.
Seemed a little strange at first running for a set time rather than a distance.
I actually quite enjoyed running at this time π

Well done, Ian. Iβve done this run, too and really enjoyed it. I think I may have continued to the nearest km. Because my long, slow runs initially were time based, it seemed ok for me to do a 45 minute run.
Maybe Iβll choose another NRC run tomorrow π

Thanks Jools, yes it was good !
And made a change to run without music !π

I thought that, too! It made me realise that I often βzone outβ while the musicβs playing anyway. π
With βA Whole Runβ it was good to think about what they were saying. π

Absolutely, I have used quite a few of Andy's meditations previously π

Sounds like a good plan to take any pressure off and just run. I'm thinking of using one of these podcasts and used them once or twice on my now-sold treadmill to relieve the boredom!
3 runs this week is fantastic!
Reply (1)Report
Hmm.... I'm curious, how can you use a now sold treadmill ? π€π

π haha, when I had it. So boring, had to do something to pass the time.

I could run much faster on the treadmill though!

Looks like a good run ! I keep meaning to give the NRC app a go !
Reply (1)Report
Yes, I have had it for ages and been meaning to try !
It was nice to have a bit of variety π

Now I have finished the magic plan I might give the app a go, like you say a bit of variety!

Helps to keep the motivation ππ

Hi Ian,
Yaay well done on your run, sounds like a nice run, πββοΈ πββοΈ πββοΈ so glad your knees are fine.
Regarding Andy P is he just available on Headspace and is the Nike App running app free or do you have to pay for it?
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, Andy Puddicome is the co founder of headspace , he has the headspace app for developing mindfulness .
He has also teamed up with the Nike running app which is available for free .
I have used many of his meditations so thought I'd give this guided run a go π

Hi Ian,
Thank you so much.
Would you recommend Headspace?
Reply (0)Report
Headspace is good , but you need to keep it up .
If you are dipping in and out of it obviously it is not as effective,
I guess a bit like keeping up enough runs in a week to keep progressing.
I'm not using it at the moment , I tend to switch between meditation and self hypnosis

OK thanks for that.
I have found the running so beneficial for my mental health
Reply (1)Report
Absolutely, try the NRC app with some of the mindfulness runs π
Reply (0)Report
Thanks Ian I will have a look and give them a go.

Nice run! Glad you enjoyed it - I really liked this one.
Also glad the knees are holding up ok. You are turning into a "later in the day" runner π
Reply (1)Report
Yes, it was a good run , I have been a fan of Andy P for some time now .
Haha yes, while I'm not working then I can still have a lay in and run later , so no pressure to get out at first light π

That's just not fair π

It's not well paid either βΉοΈ
Reply (1)Report
No
I freely admit to being extremely lucky on that front. I've been working from home on full pay since just before lockdown and have an incredibly supportive and caring employer.
That can't be said of too many people.
I do feel sorry for people who have been told they can't work. And some of it really doesn't make sense.

Well done Instructor57, the NRC runs are quite an enjoyable distraction as you jog along, I enjoyed that one too π
Reply (1)Report
Yes it was good , I noticed the app didn't record elevation though π€
Reply (0)Report
Elevation has totally gone to pot on my Garmin.
The profile looks right but it often has me running below sea level
It's very annoying
Reply (1)Report
Fantastic!! π€© Thatβs my favourite App π! In fact apart from my Garmin programme, itβs my only running app. I do like guided runs! βΊοΈβ€οΈ
Reply (1)Report
Yes, it's good .
Didn't record elevation though ππ€
Reply (1)Report
Oh...I havenβt noticed that. Iβm an amateur on the stats Instructor57 π. I donβt pay too much mind to them. Probably because NRC was my first App after completing C25K and I guess I just use it to keep on going out, no matter the outcomes to be honest π€«..π€β€οΈ

Glad to hear your knees are behaving π I'm a fan of running in the middle of the day and as I work part time it's my normal run time πI think I'm going to be thankful to be able to do this as we head into the winter π₯Ά must try a whole run sometime soon as it seems to be getting good reviews π
Reply (1)Report
Yes, I think my knees had stiffened up after 13 days of no running !
Yes, quite a few on here have used this run π
