So, I was very naughty today, and ran for 40 mins, and got to 5k!
Unexpected day of work, my elderly mum (91) was taken into hospital yesterday, after falling over, 2nd time this week, but this time has a leg fracture, which isnt great at her age! Anyway, i was half expecting a phone call, from the hospital, while out running, cant see her, because of covid 😡, got to 30 mins, ditched laura today, used strava, and nike app, then just kept going, i'd done 35 mins on graduatiin run, getting to 4k, so thought, why not!
I know the programme says build up slowly, which i will do, from now on, stick to 30 mins, for a few weeks, but at least i know i've done it, and with what's going on at the moment, you never know what's round the corner, which unfortunatly, i know too well! 😥

Well done Peter . Good on ya . Big jump up from 4K to 5k . Put your feet up you’ve earned it ,
Peter, so sorry to hear about your mom. 😢 It's so hard when those we love experience the pains of aging.
Awesome that you could run that far and long! But yea...be careful, that's how I ended up with bad shin splints 5 years ago when I got to 5 miles waaaayyyy to fast. I haven't run since, until this morning that is.
Sorry to hear about your mum, it's awful at best of times but 10x worse now with all covid restrictions in place.
Massive well done on the 5k though, shows great determination to keep running for 40 mins (I too did it today and it frankly hurt! 😂) I'm on CR6 and should probably have stopped at 35 minutes.
Sorry to hear about your Mum, gosh she's having a rough time....difficult times for you both! Well done though on your 5k you must feel fabulous 😁😁👏👏👏. As you say you can reign back on your runs to 30 mins now. Congratulations 👍👍🙋🙋
Definitely a bit transgressive there, Peter. Steady on! You’re making me giddy. I’m amazed you could face anything strenuous given things, let alone start hopscotching over your training targets.
Sound like you’ve had a day of 2 halves- a good run with increased distance but then tinged with worry because of your mum’s fall. You did well on the run- that’s what I did, took it slow to try the 5k then I’ve gone back to the 30 mins for the 2 weekly runs then tried the 5k again at the weekend cos I felt up to it by the end of the 30mins but not going mad for speed. Let’s hope your mum is healed and home very soon .
Thank you, running wise, it's quite nice to a bit more free, to try a few things, after the c25k programme, even though it works so well, but will defo keep it to 30 mins, this week, anyway!
