๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ I ran my first run today, Yaay!! I ran 5k in my new running top as pictured! was so comfortable. I get so apprehensive starting something new, i know it is really silly, but I doubt myself thinking I canโ€™t do it remember feeling like that ok week 9! I decided not to time myself, which was a good job as I glanced at my Fitbit have way through and saw it had ran out (forgot to charge it last night!). Was such a beautiful day for a run, I am so happy to be a runner! Had a good run, felt a good pace, although my legs felt a little achy today. Felt great afterwards and excited to have a new challenge to focus on although I canโ€™t imagine been able to run 10k at this stage!!!

Thank you so much.

Yes I did, it felt really nice actually, not too hot and really comfortable, first actual running top I have bought!

You will definitely run 10k, the most important thing Iโ€™ve found personally is to get your breathing into a good steady rhythm, take a deep breath in then purse your lips slightly as you exhale a little slower, also relax and enjoy it. Stay focused and positive, you can do it 9weeks2Run ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sounds like you are flying through from 5 to 10k, 9weeks2run. I graduated in the summer and am still working towards achieving 5k consistently. Doing a mix of free runs, nike guided runs etc but still finding it hard to get my breathing into a comfortable rhythm - seem to spend more time and energy exhaling, rather than inhaling ... any good videos on this that you can recommend, Couchphoenix?

I kind of just got into it with the breathing, I just take a slow deep breath in through my mouth to fill my lungs, then purse my lips slightly as I exhale and I kind of get into a rhythm as I run, nothing too technical Iโ€™m afraid. Iโ€™m sure there are videos on You Tube, you can find most things on there ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you so much DexD,

That is fantastic, well done!

I find that my chest feels so much clearer after a run.

Hooray! Well done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

You can do it! Youโ€™ve started it now, so it will be easier to continue. Just take it one run at a time, like you did with C25K and I donโ€™t doubt that you will get there! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

And donโ€™t forget that you can post on the Bridge to 10K forum, now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ, you donโ€™t have to, of course!

Well done for starting the plan, just stick with it and it will work magic. Iโ€™m in the final week of the plan, but already managed 10k run, certainly felt that by week 8 I could manage that as my distance stamina had greatly improved. The other benefit of this plan is that it makes 5k runs (well at least the good ones!) feel short! Good luck.

Happy new Running top ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

And we'll done on starting the plan , it's sometimes good to have some structure again

You will soon be running 10k, I have NO doubts ๐Ÿ˜

Lol!! Thank you.

Yes nice to have some structure again. During this training I am going to focus on the distance and not the time.

Enjoy your next run ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…

The best way to breathe while running is to inhale and exhale using both your nose and mouth combined. Breathing through both the mouth and the nose will keep your breathing steady and engage your diaphragm for maximum oxygen intake. It also allows you to expel carbon dioxide quickly.
