Week 4 of Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan - here I come 🏃🏽‍♀️

I do love a proper training plan ☺️ I ran the ct5k to the letter and found it worked if I put my trust in it. Since completing it I did some weeks of consolidation runs to get myself comfortably running 5k but then felt a bit lost - would I ever run for longer than 34 mins? So I decided to give Ju-Ju’s magic plan a go and use the time rather than distance to do it. It looked daunting - in 8 weeks I’m supposed to be able to run for 60 mins (as if) - but I shouldn’t doubt these tried and tested programmes, they do work! So today I’m on week 4 and I like to get the longest run done for my first run of the week (50 minutes!!!!). I smashed it, I had so much more left in me but I stopped at 50 minutes as I’m sticking rigidly to this plan. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come since starting my running journey in April. I’ve even entered a 10k Yuletide run in December as I know by that time I should be comfortably running that distance ☺️ It’s bloody brilliant this running lark! 🏃🏽‍♀️😊

Very well done you... slow and steady and trust the plan... AND, have the confidence in yourself and know that you are going to get to that 60 minutes! x

Thanks Oldfloss, I even managed to chat for the whole distance - that’s how I know my pace was right ☺️ X

we’ll done! I think I need a bit of structure too so I think I’m going to give it a try. Mind you It takes me 45 minutes to run 5k so I think I’ll be using distance as a measure rather than time 🤣

I always need structure 🙈 that’s why this plan is so good as it’s adaptable to those who prefer the distance outcome - good luck!

I’m exactly the same-structure is so helpful. You’re doing brilliantly. Well done for having the willpower to stop whe you’re supposed to. That’s much harder than it sounds! 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️

Thank you ☺️ I had a Strava wobble at the end when I clicked finish it only showed 42 mins instead of 50 and I was debating to run an extra 8 mins just to have it recorded (glad it fixed itself). 👍🏻

Tech can be an absolute pain sometimes! My Fitbit just refused to find a GPS signal today and I was very grumpy about that. Luckily I managed not to talk myself out of going. There’s a route I’ve done loads before and it was a recovery run anyway so distance wasn’t even important. I do wonder about just going out with none of it occasionally! Glad you got it sorted in the end.

Keep at it-that 10k will come up sooner than you think!

I know I’m wanting a proper running watch so I’m not having to get my phone ready with the timer, tunes and Strava all at the same time then doing that weird wobbly run where you’re trying to put your phone in an awkward vertical zip leg pocket so you can start the running 🤪🤣

Oh no that would have been annoying with your gps but luckily you’ve done the route (can I ask what a recovery run is?)

I hope so I’m delighted with this plan so far 😉

Apologies for the jargon! I’m following a half marathon plan on the Nike Run Club app. Recovery runs are what they call slow, easy runs. You might typically do them the day after a speed run or a long run, but you can use them any time you just want to do just a normal run. It’s essentially the same as what the end of the c25k runs should be-conversational pace. Variable in length. Usually very enjoyable! Just to be clear, I’ve been running regularly enough that running on consecutive days is ok for me now. I wouldn’t have done that too quickly after graduating.

The magic plan is just that-magic! Have a fantastic time with it.

I’m enjoying learning all this jargon 😊 thanks for explaining. It’s good to know there are lots of different types of runs to try for the future 👍🏻

Thanks I’m enjoying the plan so far.
