For those of you not in the know, Iβd kept doing C25K a secret from everyone, including my husband, and the plan had been to surprise him on my graduation run. Unfortunately I had to fess up a few runs short when I developed tendonitis π as he was so concerned and couldnβt understand how on earth it had come about π€·ββοΈ
We got prepped, did the dynamic exercises π§ββοΈ and off we set on the warm up walk. He runs βnakedβ but I have to have my πΆ so I just had to say start and stop! He said he was more than happy to run at my pace π’(just as well as I canβt run at his π€£) so we jogged along in happy companionship exchanging smiles π¬... whoops sorry shouldβve been π...nods that I was ok π and the occasional few words, with me able to keep him abreast of what πΆ were playing. It felt very different running alongside someone else πββοΈπββοΈ (well sometimes in front or behind too depending upon what on earth I was doing π) but I did eventually settle down into a steady rhythm, which John later told me felt much better on his knees than usual π
At 30 minutes I said β and we walked the rest of the way back home, did the stretches then breakfast. Apparently weβd covered 4.49 km (and Runkeeper concurred) so maybe I will be able to continue for a bit further to 5K before too much longer but will stick with 30 mins runs for the next 2 weeks.
Hubbie said he absolutely loved that I could now run with him (occasionally Iβve said!) so itβs made the effort all the more worthwhile π₯°
So Iβll be back to πββοΈ on my own again for the next couple of runs but so long as I can continue to get out and keep motivated Iβm a happy π
Hope everyone is having as good a week as possible with everything thatβs going on and happy πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

A great success story, I bet he was really surprised when he found out, also very proud when he watched you actually run! very nearly a 5k too ππ» that's brilliant ππ»
Yes he was totally surprised, and soooooo proud π I knew heβd be so thrilled if we could occasionally run together, something else to look forward to doing when we retire back to the UK in a couple of years. My dream is for us to be able to run the 5k across the Toronto Islands together before we leave here, so thatβs looking very achievable now ππββοΈπββοΈ
Thank you π yes the distance covered rather surprised me, I donβt feel as though I should be running that fast (well, itβs not fast but you know what I mean) but I seem to settle into a steady rhythm so guess itβs ok. The main thing for me right now is to carry on with achieving 30 mins as Iβm worried if I start doing shorter runs I wonβt manage 30 again π
Awhhhh, so lovely to read! As a newbie runner with a runner husband I know how nice it is suddenly to have a common hobby. Lovely!!! Happy many runs together!
Thank you π I knew it was something heβd really love us to do, but as Iβve always hated running with a passion I donβt think he ever thought would be an option. Letβs hope I can keep it up π
Wooo well done on the third consolidation run Caroline, lovely that you got to do it with someone to keep you company too βΊοΈ Hope you have a fab day, stay safe!
I have to say it really did feel weird running with someone when Iβve always been on my my own. Kept worrying I was going to trip him up π¬ π€£
Once we were out and walking to warm up it didnβt feel too bad, I wore a long sleeved t shirt and long leggings for the first time but I did warm up quite quickly. Iβm going to have to get some warmer clothes though but I do prefer it cooler than hot and humid which I hate π₯΅ Iβm not looking forward to the minus 20 thoβ thatβs for sure π₯Ά Itβs already been snowing not that much further north, so will definitely prefer to ski rather than run in that π
The image of you tripping up hubby is not a good one ππ
Iβve been in long leggings and long sleeve zip up for a few runs now which just shows what a wuss I am. Iβd probably been in thermals over where you are! π₯Ά
Week off is doing bits round the house and some chilling πThe weather is pretty much dictating that π§
Thanks Lottie π funny you should say that as he now does βmyβ warm up exercises and a 5 min warm up walk before he runs and a warm down walk too π Unsurprisingly his hips and knees warm up much better now π and yes, running slower helped too π Whoβd have ever thought Iβd have become so knowledgeable π€·ββοΈπ€£ just shows how good this programme is π
Yes, that was in 30 minutes, an unexpected surprise as I thought Runkeeper had been kidding me π Youβre covering good ground too, I think itβs just whatever comfortable rhythm we get into thatβs important π
Sorry about your rain π§ yes youβre like me and prefer cold and dry π hope you get out later π€πββοΈ
Ah thank you Wardlewunner, so glad itβs cheered you up π It must be so frustrating for you but good youβre still keeping an eye on what weβre all up to π
I must give Mrs Wife a nudge to run with me π but maybe not today......
