It was foggy π« when I got up and I shouldβve just flippingβ well got on with it, it wasnβt as though I was going to get run over or run into anything π After my first successful post grad run I was determined to get out again πββοΈnot least of all because my husband and I are planning on running together for the very first time on Sunday π¬ so just in case Iβd forgotten what to do since Wednesday π I thought practice, practice, practice π
Well, by the time Iβd done some jobs around the house and faffed around getting ready the fog had well and truly burnt off to be replaced by a cloudless blue sky and π
For some stupid reason I decided to change my route (uphill on the way back π π€·ββοΈ) and change my tunes πΆ what a mistake π€£ Iβd decided to continue running with Jo for a few more runs but she deserted me 3 times on this run so Iβm afraid thatβs it now, weβre parting company π and itβs over to NRC.
Thank you, I am π This was, in part, my motivation for doing βitβ as he runs anyway and would dearly love for us to run together occasionally. Itβs on my terms...30 mins and at my pace π
Oh no π₯΄ never a good feeling π¬ glad you feel better today. Enjoy your walk and hope you get to the allotment, we managed to watch Gardeners World last night π we canβt always get it but my week is not the same without it π
Itβs seems as though even after graduation our experiences are pretty similar! π€¦ββοΈ
I too got to a point yesterday when I thought the C25K app and Jo have served me well but itβs not quite doing it anymore π
Part of it, I think, is because I feel the same pressure to do exactly what Iβm told and if it doesnβt quite go as planned it feels like Iβm failing even though Iβve done the programme and graduated! Thatβs not a good start to keep running and enjoying it! π
I also just canβt get to grips with remembering stretches, music, the app, water bottle and Strava or similar all before I put a π¦Ά out the door, and as Iβm watching it start to get dark π
Dβya know what?
Iβve decided that for the next few weeks Iβm not going to worry about how far Iβve gone or how long Iβve run for without stopping, Iβm just going to enjoy the fact that just over 10 weeks ago I couldnβt even run for 60 seconds and now, if I put my mind to it I can run for 30 minutes π
I never started this to become an elite athlete π I just wanted to be fitter and do something thatβs for me rather than for everyone else.
Iβm going to try Roseabiβs and other peopleβs suggestion on the forum of varying run times which will fit in better around work and see what happens. If I can get to 5k great π but itβs not the end of the world if I never do.
I liked the look of Nike Running Club but also check out The Run Experience on YouTube.
I found it by accident when I was searching for cool down stretches and have enjoyed understanding more about breathing, different techniques to reduce injury etc
Have a good run tomorrow with your husband πββοΈπββοΈπ
Yup, youβre right, all I really wanted to get from doing this was to get fitter, I definitely have no aspirations either to be an elite athlete π I really want to try and get out 2-3 times a week πββοΈthoβ, weather depending, but know as it gets colder here snow and ice is going to become a spoiler. Obviously a goal was also to be able to run occasionally with John too because thatβs what he would like π
I like a prompt in my ear telling me how long Iβve been running for, and if I stop using Jo I can get that on Runkeeper which Iβve started using. Iβm def going to try NRC too. Iβm also better with goals to achieve (maybe an O.T. thing π) I would like to be able to run 5K one day, but not regularly π and I have no inclination to run any further than that. A dream would be to get to 5k in 30 mins, just once π but Iβm not hung up on that if I never achieve it π€·ββοΈ If I can do 20-30 mins each run Iβll be super happy. Roseabi has suggested a little plan for me in Consolidation Club and I also like the idea of intervals but super slow jogging the walks. I donβt want to be able to run for an hour thoβ π€£
Initially though, Iβm going to try and complete 3 weeks consolidation of 30 min runs, if I can, as I feel I need to get more consistent at doing that before I do anything different. I do seem, unintentionally, to be running quicker and covering more ground even though I make myself slow down. I seem to get into my own rhythm and run to my πΆ but I know each run isnβt going to be the same.
Will check out the breathing inYou Tube too thanks π
Will think of you out running tomorrow too πββοΈπββοΈ under no pressure, like last week π and enjoy your time off π
Hi Cazza, well done on getting out, the weather is turning and can be an easy excuse, I was planning on going out today but wet and windy. Better day tomorrow so will go for it.
We all have good and bad days but the main things is you have got more miles in your legs 𦡠π. Enjoy the rest of your weekend πββοΈβΊοΈ
Thanks Jules π yes π so long as Iβm still getting out there πββοΈπββοΈ Do I remember correctly that youβll be running in the warmth and sun somewhere lovely quite soon?
Enjoy your run tomorrow and the rest of your weekend too π
Morning Cazza, yes will be in the sun soon π. Although, BA have cancelled our return flights twice now ! Hopefully no more ! Means an extra 2 days to our hols.
Think the good/bad runs just come with the territory it seems ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈπ€·πΌββοΈπ€·πΌββοΈ
Thereβs something to be learnt in each one though and it all adds to our experience .
Also some days changing things will work ( route, music etc.) and some days not so much .
I drive myself crazy sometimes changing things that Iβve only just decided worked well and should do again , humans are a strange lot ππ
I hope you donβt mind Iβve saved roseabiβs little plan too, once I get a few more 30 min runs under my belt it looks like one to try .
Iβm not looking for big goals but it would be nice to gradually stretch to be a 60 minute runner , but not just for the number of minutes but to meander further afield , Iβm not interested in running in circles for 60 mins πππ€·πΌββοΈ
Iβm sure our goals may change as we evolve though , it will be fun to look back on these posts ππ
Youβre doing a grand job working your way through all the posts π
Would be delighted for you to share roseabiβs plan, itβs for anyone who would like to give it a go. I think we all just need to work out whatβs best for ourselves but as I said to roseabi I canβt ever see myself getting to an hour π³ not really sure if I want to π¬ but then I never thought Iβd be able to keep going for half an hour π€·ββοΈ
Iβd love to get to 5k and that might be sooner than I thought π but am definitely sticking with 30 mins (minimum) for another 2 weeks before I do less π€£ Well thatβs the intention anyway althoβ itβs quite possible that I may end up stopping short for no end of possible reasons π
Hope youβre still doing ok with your brakes and stabilizers π πββοΈπ
Thanks Cazza , Iβm way behind with posts and replies π€·πΌββοΈπ and itβs not like Iβm busy π
As much as I love Autumn the last week has been a bit wild , weather wise and I seem to have drained my batteries . Need to reenergise ππ
Anyway , I like look of pushing the time on run 3 of roseabis suggested plan , that way the 5k may take care of itself rather than me chasing it .
Iβm being very good and sticking to my 30 mins although my βcomfortableβ pace is much faster it seems π€·πΌββοΈ Yet I stay around the 4km.
Not sure I truly understand the relationship between pace, distance , speed etc. but I do know that itβs feeling natural even though quicker . Maybe getting stronger .
Iβm off to catch up on everyones posts and then do mine for my last 3 runs π±π± if I v
Can remember them π 1 good, 1 not so good and 1 pretty dashed awesome actually πππ But all 4K and all 30 mins π€·πΌββοΈ
