It’s been one year since I graduated C25K and thought I’d share the progress I’ve made since.

Well, I’m still running and enjoying it too. Today was my 130th run and I’ve covered 460km along the way.

I started the plan not particularly overweight but extremely unfit, I remember finding the first week weeks ok, but had to repeat some of the middle weeks as the running times increased. It took me around 12 weeks in all to graduate.

I wasn’t too bothered at the time about increasing distance, I just aimed to run 2-3 times a week and to get to the 5km mark. I eventually managed 5km later that month in around 31:30. I continued running until September but then I hardly ran at all in the last 3 months of the year.

At the start of this year I decided I needed to get back into running and restarted the plan from week 4 as my fitness levels were ok. I’ve now recompleted C25K again and I’m halfway through a 10k plan. My longest run Is 8km and just this morning I ran a 5km PB (30:03). That elusive sub 30 min 5km is so near.

Wherever you are on your C25K journey stick with it, it’s a great plan. Take pride in your achievements, but don’t get carried away and overdue it, stick to the plan.

Try not compare yourself to others, as easy as it is to do, this is your journey. Don’t beat yourself up about the not so good runs either, we all have them. Even now I have runs I’ve not enjoyed and sometimes in the first 10 mins I still question why I’m doing this. I guess that never goes away.

Good luck, you can do this and happy running.

Good post from you ScottJB, congratulations on 1 year since graduating from C25K, 460 Kilometres in a year is very good considering that you did not run for about 3 months and that 3 seconds short of the magic 30 minute 5k 🤣I am sure you will get it soon. 😊 🏃🏾

Thank you for sharing your journey. Both inspirational and helps with some of the focus people put on wanting to do 5k in 30 mins at the end of the program.

Thanks for sharing your story! It's really inspired me. I graduated c25k 3weeks ago and haven't run since (long story), but you've made me want to get back out there and keep pushing myself 😊

Yes get back out there, you’ve already graduated so you know you can do it. If it’s been 3 weeks maybe start with a 25 min run and see how you feel. Good luck

Well done and thanks for taking us through your journey. Completely agree with the don’t compare motto, be yourself get to know your limits and you can conquer anything.

You will do 5K in under 30mins you wait, keep at it and let us know when you smash it 💪🏻👍🏻

Great post Scott JB. I've done 8 consolidation runs, nowhere near 5k but small improvement every time. I'm nearly 66 and still amazed I can do this! Happy running!😀
