I didn't set out to do this when I went out of the door this morning but, somehow, it kind of happened.
Since graduating, just over 2 weeks ago, I did a "lap of honour" run (repeating W1R1 (to prove what a pussy I was when I started, lol), a repeat of a W9 run, a run that I had to stop after 10 minutes because of a worrying tightness in my calf and a "Pace Test" run where I upped my pace and didn't look at distance or time (did 2.5Km at 6min/km before retiring).
Today was supposed to be a steady 30 minutes. But I set Runkeeper to tell me kilometers rather than elapsed time in 500m intervals.
So my run was basically split into bite sized chunks of half kilometers.
When I got to 4km, I knew I could do it and just carried on.
Took me 41:47 at 8.08m/km. 5.12 km.
This was my goal for 18 days ago - When I started this in June, my goal was to run 5km before my birthday. Calf pulls took me out for 3 weeks in August and had to settle for graduating instead. So I can see that, without the injuries, I would have done it!
Surprised and chuffed with myself π
