Finally seeing my way over my Week 4 wall

Five weeks in to my attempts at week 4, I think I may almost be there. I had to stop about 10 seconds before the final 5 minute run finished today as I had to cross the road and a car was coming. I've never got back to that crossing point while still running before, so haven't had to worry about it. This was the first time I'd tried the week 4 run in the afternoon - my only previous run in an afternoon in week 2 was disastrous as I felt really sick, but today I couldn't go out this morning for various reasons (not least the heavy rain). I don't know if the damp conditions, with lots of tree debris on the pavement, helped me to slow down, but whatever it was, fingers crossed that I can repeat it and nail this week 4 at last. I am going to have to find another route though, if it carries on raining, as I had to go through a massive puddle which stretched right across the road and both pavements at one point.

Congratulations despite that massive puddle on almost completing run 3 of week 4, I think you will complete it the next time you run, good luck.

Well done on your perseverance 🤩 slowing down is the best way to run as far as I’m concerned. Really good luck for your next run and you will be nearly halfway through program then too 😍

I finally got my brain to forget about speed and it’s really helped me run better and further and finish without being exhausted.

Really well done, sounds like you’ll nail W4 next run. Take it really slow and steady and you’ll make it 👍 good luck.

Keep going slowly. I’m on the third week of week 4 too. Just can’t do five minutes as comfortably as three minutes so I’ll keep repeating until I feel stronger. Every run is a cardio workout and is doing is good!

So glad to hear that someone else is in a similar position. The 5 minutes is hard!

I’m in the same position. Have managed week 4 last week and did R1 of week 5 this morning, but I found it hard going! My calf muscles are screaming by the end of the 5 minutes.
