It's usually half a size bigger, I think.
I expect it depends on the make, I wear Hokas and take a full size up.
I wear ASICS and buy half size up 👍
I was told you should go up a size, but I wear Brookes and i haven’t, but I do have one foot slightly smaller than the other. No complaints though, I love my trainers very supportive.
My road shoes are half a size bigger and my trail shoes are a full size bigger and they are the same make ! .
Best advice would be to get a gait analysis and proper fitting in a specialist Running shop

I have heard of people taking up to as many as two sizes up on normal (feet swell when hot) but it all depends on the brand.
I wear Hoka and with regular shoes I can either be a 4 or 4½. I go for 4½ and they are perfect.
I go 1 size up. This has always worked for me, since 4 to a 5.
ASICS and Brookes have always worked well.
Same in walking boots 😊
