You've opened a can of worms there 🤣🤣 there are sooo many opinions on brands, gait analysis and the merits of support/cushioning/minimal running shoes.

Personally I love Brooks support shoes for road running and you can get last years models for a bargain.

I also have Saucony trail shoes for off road that are just so comfy!

I wear Asics for casual but they wouldn't do for running.

I haven't tried Sketchers at all but I would recommend checking out your local running shops, try some brands, get properly fitted and see what brands seem to suit your feet and needs. 👍

Johnny, try saucony guide 10, they’re my go to guys, I’ve tried ASICS, new balance but I find they don’t give the same support as saucony. Try sportsshoes.com you’ll find them at a reduced price too, good luck👍

Different running shoes suit different people, best go to a reputable running shop and have gait analysis and fitting where you can discuss your requirements..

I did a gait analysis and need lots of support (my knees were v sore initially) and Mizuno were best for me - but we’re all different.

Gait analysis is required for most people, then you’ll have a choice of shoes that probably won’t include my favourites.

Thanks to you all for your comments. My problem is that I've just figured out the nearest business to me to do the gait thing is 35 miles away or in down in the City. Unfortunately I don't have time to be Going 35 miles for this. So my next option is to stick to close to what I have as they seem OK but just well worn. (I hope)

At least make sure your sizing is good leaving extra room in the toe box for your toes to lengthen and spread as you run. We don't leave enough room in our street shoes usually which then puts us at higher risk with running shoes. Usually your runners are a bigger size to your street shoes.

Mine are a whole size bigger and I never would have picked that size without a running shop👍

I started off with Skechers running shoes but my ankle weren't getting the support they needed. Turned out I've got a high arch so got some nike running shoes that are very supportive and haven't had any problems since

So with the help of the sales girl and trying on countless trainers we ended up with a pair of asics. So out for a wee canter tonight to break them in. Have to hide the receipt. World war 3 would start in my house if the price is found out

Hi,

I would be wary of buying sketchers as the majority of their shoes are fashion trainers not designed for proper sports use. True, they do have some styles appropriate for sports but you’d need to sort through which is which. I’d recommend going to a specific running store if you have one locally.

Not what you're looking for?
